Morgantown, W.Va. (November 16, 2009) - Racer Productions, producers of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series, is pleased to announce that off-road racing legend Randy Hawkins has been inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. Hawkins, a long-time GNCC competitor who now owns and manages the Am-Pro FMF Yamaha team in the GNCC tour, is a seven-time AMA National Enduro Champion, 13-time International Six Days Enduro gold medalist and has won 73 AMA Nationals. He is a true ambassador of the sport.
"Randy helped raise the game for off-road racing both on and off the track," said GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell, who battled Hawkins for AMA Enduro Championships. "He was a fierce competitor, but he's also a great person and a real professional. His family was into car racing, and I think he brought that NASCAR mentality to bikes, which really helped the sport grow."
Hawkins started his racing career on go-karts and had early thoughts about car racing, but soon switched to motorcycles. Hawkins worked his way through the ranks until he won his first national in Texas in 1986. Hawkins signed his first factory deal in 1987 and won his first championship in 1988. From there, he launched his storied career in off-road racing.
Now, as owner and Team Manager of Am-Pro FMF Yamaha, Hawkins manages a team of championship-winning riders like Barry Hawk, Jason Raines and Thad DuVall and support riders Joe Scherer, Ryan Belue and Kyle Redman in a variety of off-road series.
"I'm honored and blessed with the career I've had racing motorcycles," Hawkins said. "I never even knew anything about a Hall of Fame; I just rode motorcycles for fun on the farm. It took a little while to sink in because it's such a great honor. I couldn't have done it by myself; so many other people were involved through support and friendship to get here. It's a blessing and an honor I will cherish forever."
Hawkins is currently featured with other 2009 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers on the cover of the December issue of American Motorcyclist.

Morgantown, W.Va. (November 17, 2009) - MX Sports, producer of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., has officially announced the 2010 Area Qualifier Schedule. Within the 7 different regions across the country riders are provided 51 opportunities to attend the first stage in the qualification process to the National Championships held at the famed Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., August 2-7, 2010.
"The 2010 schedule will give our Loretta Lynn riders an opportunity to compete on the best AMA tracks in America," said Tim Cotter, Director of MX Sports. "In addition to the many facilities that have historically been on the schedule we have a few very exciting new comers to the program. It is the goal of MX Sports to develop relationships with the best promoters and facilities in the country to hold these very important events."
The 2010 Area Qualifier Event Schedule already boasts several Pro National tracks and the Hangtown MX facility near Sacramento, Calif., joins the Northwest schedule for the very first time. Hangtown has been the site of professional motocross races since 1968, including the second round of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships.
"We are excited to host our first Area Qualifier at Hangtown," said Scott Davis, promoter of the event and owner of E Street MX. "We hope the addition of the event at this national level track will be an exciting opportunity for riders on their way to the National at Loretta Lynn's."
Also new to the Northwest region is the addition of Horn Rapids MX near Seattle, while new relationships are forming in the South Central region with Cowboy Bad Lands in Beaumont, Texas. In the Northeast, Winchester Speed Park graces the schedule putting a qualifier in New Hampshire for the first time in many years.

The Georgia Practice Facility is one of the premier riding locations in the country and is all set to host the second annual GPF Charity Ride4A-T which starts on Friday Nov 20th at 8:30am through 2pm on Saturday. This elite track is normally reserved for members only, but will be generously open to the public for two great days of riding while raising money to help find a cure for the debilitating childhood disease, Ataxia-Telangiectasia, or “A-T.” Practice sessions will be well-organized in an effort to maximize track time while keeping a safe environment for everyone. Our well-known DMXS Charity Ride4A-T following the Atlanta Supercross every year at Bremen Race Park has become a staple for the Georgia fans and industry alike. We are pleased to branch out with new events to help raise funds and awareness for A-T and the gracious Woods family at GPF was more than willing to help out in anyway. This year there will be plenty to do on and off the track as we will be including a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and golf challenge in addition to several Friday night movies after the sun goes down on a custom twenty-foot screen. The films will include Hyperlite (www.hyperlite.com), Epic (www.vurbmoto.com), and FEAT (www.featmovie.com) which chronicles one man’s quest to run 63 marathons in 63 days for A-T. Everyone is invited and camping is more than welcome. For more information on A-T you can visit www.actp.org and for more on the ride, please check out www.Ride4AT.com and www.GPMFX.com. You can also contact Heath Hamrick at 678-300-7773 or the lovely Christina Denney from RoostMX at 678-618-9813 |
