It's hard to believe that we're getting ready to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Vurb Classic. We've seen a lot of big names and future stars make their way to the gate of the classic, but maybe none bigger than the two showcased in this video. Barcia was one of the most driven amateur riders I've ever seen and Cianciarulo surely matches everything Barcia brought to the table. This video was shot in September of 2008 and oddly enough, I wasn't even there. I was at the beach golfing with my family. Needless to say I haven't missed a race since.
The race was put together on a whim with the help of DMXS Radio's Kevin Kelly and while we were hoping for a good turn out, we had no idea what would become of the event five years later. I'll let the video speak for itself and end with this. If you're looking for a truly one of a kind race be sure and come out to either Oatfield Raceway in Turlock, CA on August 24-26 or Echeconnee MX Park in Macon, GA on September 7-9 for the 2012 Scott Sports Vurb Classic. We'll have plenty of info coming your way soon, which will include some major changes to the structure of the event, but be sure and mark your calendar now. You know what they say, you won't be disappointed.
