Welcome to our April edition of On the Bubble. We considered calling this the “Latepril” edition seeing as it’s already April 7th and we’re just getting around to publishing the feature, but decided that while our tardiness is in no way warranted, there is an legitimate excuse.
We’ve been tearing up the asphalt from ATL to LA over the last 40 days and have had little time in between shoots to compose content. Our schedule over the last month has been made up of eight hour shoots during the day followed up by eight hour drives throughout the night. It was one of the gnarliest trips we’ve ever endured, but we are confident our hard work will pay off once EPIC is released in May.
We would like to take a quick second to thank everyone who put up with us on our trip. First off a huge thanks goes out to Travis Steward and John Parkinson. These two were in this thing until the end. From late night coffee stops to a box full of Capt’n Crunch and no bowls, Travis and John fought through the entire trip with us and we can’t thank them enough. Thanks to the Canard’s, Tomac’s, Anderson’s, Currier’s and Wilson’s as well. From feeding us to giving us a place to call home while we were on the road, we couldn’t have done it without all of the above families. Perhaps the biggest thank you needs to go to the Walters’ family. Ryan Walters has quickly become one of our most talented and valued contributors and his dad, Don, and brother, Matt, have now become part of the cause as well. Not only did they put us up for a week in California, but they were cool enough to loan us a truck to drive and enough food to feed an army. Don also donated one of the sickest film cameras from his own personal collection, something we will never be able to thank him enough for. Expect to see some original film photography very soon.
We would also like to thank all the tracks that were cool enough to allow us to shoot at their facility. Some of the most pristine tracks in the country will be featured in this film and without the cooperation from the owners; none of this would be possible. So to Castillo Ranch, Zaca Station, Underground MX, Rynoland and all the other track owners out there, THANK YOU!
With the exception of one or two more shoots, EPIC is now in the final stage of production. Wes and Travis will be flying out for the final shoot tomorrow and then it’s back down to the dirty south to begin the edit process. Long nights and too many cups of coffee await the editing and design staff. But they wouldn’t have it any other way.
While the movie has taken up most of our time, it’s definitely not the only thing we’re focusing on. Loretta’s qualifiers are heating up and we’re going to do our best to get you the best coverage possible. We’ve caught wind that Max Anstie has been punking the pro class out west (expect more on this later on this week), while Les Smith and Taylor Futrell have stepped up their game on the east coast and Kyle Regal and Tevin Tapia have shown what they are made of in the Lone Star state. With nearly all the movie shoots complete, it’s time once again to focus on racing, and what better racing to focus on than Loretta Lynn’s qualifiers.
Eight qualifiers have been completed, with 43 more to go. The qualification process will be taking a brief hiatus this weekend as racers from around the country celebrate Easter, but will be back next weekend with its biggest weekend thus far. See below for a full list of Area Qualifiers compliments of MXSports.com.

On top of Loretta Lynn's Qualifiers, one of the longest running amateur nationals kicks off next Monday in Las Vegas. That's right, the 38th Annual World Mini Grand Prix opens its doors for parking this weekend, followed by yet another week of racing. The track will be rough, the racing will be good, and lots of fun will be had in Las Vegas. Expect to see some amazing content from our boys John Parkinson and Ryan Walters the entire week. Also, don't forget to listen into the Live Audio Broadcast which will kick off next Tuesday, April 14th, at 8am PST. What about the MOTOXDREAM AMATEUR FANTASY LEAGUE? Well, it's in full swing as well, so don't forget to put in your picks by next Tuesday.
Aside from EPIC and all the race coverage we will be fighting to bring your way, we’ve also got a few top secret things we have been working on over the last few months. While we are forced to keep a lid on everything for now, expect a lot of change to come your way in the very near future.
See you back here next month for our May edition of On the Bubble.
Thanks for reading.
