KTM Posts Over $12,000 in Contingency for 4th Annual Monster Energy

"KTM is excited to attend the Daytona Amateur Supercross event for the third year in a row with its trackside support service. The KTM service crew will be in attendance both days of the event to help any KTM rider that is in need of technical assistance," commented KTM Sports Marketing Manager Christy LaCurelle. "We at KTM are thrilled to see the growth this race has had over the past couple years and are grateful for the opportunity it gives young riders to race on the same supercross track as the professional athletes. We are happy to be a part of this program and we are looking forward to working with the KTM riders again this year."
This year's event will once again feature two full days of amateur racing, boasting longer races and practices and offering more class options to give racers even more track-time over the course of the weekend. Following a night of watching the fastest pro racers in the country battle it out on the Daytona Supercross track, the amateur-racing schedule kicks off Sunday morning. Practice starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by heat races and last chance qualifiers. Monday's schedule consists of the remaining LCQ's and all thirty-two Main Event races.
MX Sports organizes the event by utilizing over 30 years of experience operating the Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn Ranch. The class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

The Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship, produced by MX Sports, offers an opportunity for amateurs to compete on some of the most prestigious motorsports grounds in the world - Daytona International Speedway. Run in conjunction with the Daytona Pro Supercross during the first weekend in March, the two-day amateur event follows a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class. About Ricky Carmichael
Ricky Carmichael won 102 American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Motocross Nationals and 48 AMA Supercross main events for a record 150 major wins between 1997 and 2007. The Tallahassee, Fla., resident won 10 AMA Motocross Championships and five AMA Supercross crowns, giving him a record 15 major titles in his career. After retiring from professional motocross racing, he began pursuing a career in auto racing and was named the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver. Currently, Carmichael can be found in the TV booth providing color commentary on CBS and Speed's Supercross coverage.
