That’s a wrap on Supercross from the 53rd annual THOR Mini O’s. We saw some good racing and handed out a lot of #1 plates. Here is a quick rundown of some of the key takeaways from the final day.
Landon Hartz
If you read my article yesterday, then you would’ve known this was going to happen. But, as I said, Landon had the chance to go 6 for 6 on moto wins and bring home three titles. He did just that, with wins in 250B, Schoolboy 2, and 450B. Hartz looks to keep the win streak going in motocross and man it’s going to be hard to slow him down.
Caden Dudney
In these main events I learned real quick that if you let this kid get out front off the gate, it’s probably over. Dudney had two explosive starts in the 250A and 250 Pro Sport and coasted to the wins in both of those classes. In his Open Pro class, he had a little tire spin in the first turn, lost some spots, but this is what we wanted. Can he come through the pack? I believe he fell around the 10th position and with minimal laps / close lap times, it would be a big job to get back up front. Dudney was able to fight back to 3rd and earn himself a spot on the podium. This kid is going to be dangerous.
Women’s Class
Man, this is a fun class to watch. Lala Turner, Jordan Jarvis, Kyleigh Stallings, and many more have been dicing it up the last few days. It is so awesome how competitive this class is, and it continues to grow. Lala was able to take home the victory in Women’s 12+ and Girls (11-16) after some good battles with Mayla Herrick. If you get a chance to watch these two classes, make sure to do it and you will see some great battles.
JLaw
I saw a video on Instagram of the one and only JLaw smoking a cigar, chatting with Mike Alessi, all while being in line for 8 laps of SX racing in just a few minutes. I mean how the hell does he do it? I ride two laps and I’m gasping for air like a fish out of water, this guy smokes a Black & Mild and then goes and runs top 5 with some of the best ex-pros. This needs to be studied immediately.
Colt Martin
This kid races like 10 classes I think, I swear he’s out there every other race. But seriously, this kid raced five different classes over the past two days and put in some super good rides. Colt is always one of the top riders in his class and always has a chance to win. He was able to bring home the championship in the Mini Sr 2 and was in the hunt for a few others. Also, this kid is the owner of the best ice cream stand I’ve ever been to. It’s the big cone at the race, you’ll see it.
