Jett Lawrence’s Amazing Accomplishment
Okay, we know you noticed Jett Lawrence casually taking the holeshot and leading every lap at Fox Raceway as he remains undefeated at that facility. Whether or not Fox Raceway has become Jettson’s favorite track is yet to be confirmed… but we doubt it despite the success. You may not have noticed that by winning both motos this past Saturday Jett Lawrence became only the fourth AMA Pro Motocross athlete to score a 1-1 moto sweep in his first premier class event. He joined Ricky Carmichael, Sebastian Tortelli and Jeffery Herlings who also matched that feat.
The Doctor’s Son
Carter Dubach is the son of former Factory Yamaha rider and Supercross winner Doug Dubach. The Dubach name has been connected to motocross in Southern California for nearly 50 years. It’s usually Doug making headlines as a pro and more recently as an ageless vet moto hero. This past Saturday, Fox Raceway played host to Carter Dubach’s first AMA Pro Motocross event. Carter’s career aspirations may not be focused on being a pro motocross racer, but it must have felt good for him to compete at the pro level.
Burkeen is Mean
We get it, your attention was placed squarely on how easily it appeared for Jett Lawrence two sweep both motos. You may not have noticed Matt Burkeen on a Yamaha YZ250 two-stroke, with suspension tuned to perfection by our friends at Race Tech. Going 32-31 for 33rd overall might not sound incredibly impressive but given the technological disadvantages of racing a two-stroke combined with a racing surface as hard and slick as they come, let’s just say 33rd is damn good.
Dirty Baker’s Dozen
Home races are always a neat opportunity. By being the unofficial Mecca of Motocross, Southern California offers many locals the chance to perform in front of friends, family and local sponsors.
Alive and Well
For anyone who worries about the health and success of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, let the simple fact that 135 pro licenced athletes signed up to race at Fox Raceway. Some may say Round 1 being in So Cal might be a bit of an outlier as far as entries go but we at Vurbmoto think that dirtbikes are dope and 135 entries across two classes at the nationals is dope.
