The 2022 Motocross of Nations is fast approaching and it appears the 250 spot is being narrowed down to just a few riders.
The 450 spots are a lock. Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton are expected to be the selections. Have you seen these two this summer? Yeah, pretty obvious choices in my opinion.
Following the RedBud National, Tomac said he’d race if chosen. “If I’m selected, I’m here,” he said.
After Southwick, Sexton also confirmed his intentions of racing.
“I just want to race it, that’s all I want to do,” Sexton said in the press conference. “That’s been a dream of mine, I wanted to go last year, obviously we didn’t go. But this year, being at RedBud if it doesn’t rain, it’s probably going to be the biggest motocross race ever, I hope. So if I can be a part of that, it would make my day for sure.”
“I just think we send the best team,” he added. “That’s the bottom line, whoever that is. If I’m not picked, if I’m not the best guy, then that’s fine. If it came down to it, then yes [I would ride the 250]. I don’t want to ride a 250, I want to race the 450 Class, but if that’s what it takes, I gotta be open minded, I guess but I want to race the bike I have been racing all year.”
So, who will be the 250 pick? Well, over the weekend it was reported the spots might be down to two 450 riders dropping down.
Here is what the Weege said:
There was talk of Jason Anderson dropping down and being in the mix, but Steve Matthes is reporting he needs to undergo a “small procedure after season” so he’s out.
So, looks like it might be down to just Barcia and Craig. Who are you picking?
