Do you remember the summer of 2021?

Do you remember the ‘Summer of Schwartz’?

That was when Dilan Schwartz truly made a name for himself as a rookie in the 250 class. He finished tenth in points in the Pro Motocross Championship that year. He had seven top ten overall finishes with ten Moto’s inside of the top ten. His best finish was a sixth in the second Moto at Washougal.

I was certain at the time that Schwartzy was going to progress to a podium level guy outdoors at some point. I mean, it was his rookie season after all. He had raced five rounds in 2020, but this was his first full grind through the series.

Schwartz has been a member of the BarX Suzuki squad since 2019 and he helped bring them some great results in his final two years as an amateur, including podiums and Moto wins at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. But, that was always the case with Schwartz at the Ranch, always up in the mix and out of his 17 classes there over the years he’s brought home eight podiums and 11 top fives overall.

Since that magical summer in 2021, Schwartz has struggled with some injuries. A broken humerus in 2022 kept him out the majority of that season and a broken wrist last year kept him out of preparation leading up to the Monster Energy Supercross season. His results have been consistent, mostly within the top 15, but despite having some top ten Moto finishes, he hasn’t finished in the top ten overall since 2021.

That is until this past weekend at Spring Creek. Schwartz put together two strong Motos going 10-6 for a career best fifth overall. Schwartz even ran third early on in that second Moto.

With four rounds and eight Motos left in the Pro Motocross Championship, I feel like we’re going to see a rebirth of sorts for Schwartzy. Based off the 2021 results, this is where you would expect him to be today. He found that magic at Spring Creek and he can find it again next week at Washougal…where he had his previous best Moto finish.

Keep an eye on the BarX team as well as the HEP Suzuki team. The RM Army crew had a great day at Spring Creek and they want to build on that to finish the season off strong.

Welcome back to the ‘End of the Summer Schwartz’!
