The Cowboy, Aaron Plessinger, has officially reached his peak in the sport as one of the most cheered for athletes of all-time. This man, from a small town in Ohio, just made an entire track in the farthest corner of the Pacific Northwest scream for him for an entire day.
AP grabbed the start in the first 450 Moto of the day and stretched his lead lap by lap, before getting tracked down by Chase Sexton around the 25-minute mark in the race. That’s when Plessinger went into a turn and stalled his bike with Sexton on his heels.
The stall would probably take the energy out of the sails for a normal person on their way to their first potential 450MX Moto victory, but not for AP.
The cowboy would regroup a lap later, put on a charge, and eventually showed Sexton that he would have to be perfect in the final laps of the race.
“I was scared of him catching,” Plessinger said in the press conference, pointing at Sexton. “He freakin’ cut into my 5-6 second gap. He cut into four seconds of it and I got scared and I started running away. I just told myself that I had to be perfect and that lap I just cruised and I was breathing good. I just hit my lines good and all those other laps I was thinking behind me. That was just a perfect lap.”
AP finished second overall on the day with 2-3 scores. I could sit here and dissect more from the race, but let’s get back with the lead story here: AP’s post race chug.
Not only did we get the celebration on film, but we actually got a full breakdown of the chug in the post race press conference, which is why we’re here.
“I stopped, the dude poured it on me, a little bit got in my mouth, and I tried to spit it back out,” Plessinger said. “Which in turn spit straight into my mouthpiece and straight into my eyes. So, the ride to the podium wasn’t very fun. It did taste alright though.”
AP is a specimen for this act because there is no way that I would have done this…ever.
First off, I’m going to preface this with I’m a fan of fans of this sport. At the end of the day I’m one as well and motocross fans have passion unlike any other, yet that doesn’t mean that I want to share spit with you.
You have to truly time this drink out perfect, AP said that it tasted good, but he’s not the type to call a fan of his out, you know? The temperature at Washougal reached 96 degrees on Saturday and that last 450 Moto was in the hottest part of the day. The odds are that this fan cracked this coldy around the halfway point, which means that we’re around 15 minutes into this brewski. I AIN’T INTO IT!
I’ve watched the replay on this several hundred times and I’ve come to the conclusion that the can was barely half full. That’s a light can that he’s holding over the people’s champ.
We couldn’t crack a fresh one for the Cowboy?
I can’t even imagine the amount of backwash and germs swashing around inside that lukewarm can because I just can’t bring myself to think about it. You could literally have my lovely wife Ginger Dog pour a can of her warm beer backwash into my mouth and I’d have to think twice about it…and she birthed two kids for us.
AP, bro, you don’t know where that can and its contents have been buddy. I think these thoughts crept into his head as the dude was mid-pour and I think AP realized that he messed up, which is why he ended up spitting it out. That was definitely a hot brew,
Yet, who am I to judge? I’ve literally had Marshal Weltin’s dirty RedBud bath water in my mouth and survived to tell the tale. So, maybe I’m the idiot. (Slaw Note: Troy Dog is the idiot.)
We’re going to give AP a 6/10 on the chug. When it comes to post race celebrations, this one takes the cake and had he’d swallowed all of it then it would have been a 10/10. The form was great, but that’s what we expect from the Cowboy in this situation. We didn’t take him for a spitter though. Sad.
I realize that I sound like an old man in this yelling spree, but it’s all I’ve been thinking about since Saturday. It was a cool moment, don’t get me wrong, but crack me a fresh brew next time boys.

If Joel Robert can chug a pint of lager on the last lap of a 45 minute moto ( and it was the 2nd moto )…then AP needs to just suck it up for just one swallow of American “lite” beer. Cmon dude!
