Ahhhh… I can hear the faint echoes of bikes revving, the sweet, sweet smell of race gas as it fills the stadium, and you can’t forget the endless cold beers being sold by some guy screaming at top of his lungs. That’s right, Supercross is freaking back and I am juiced.
This could be one of the best seasons we have had in a while. While vets will be fighting for the extensions, the new guys will be looking to prove they belong out there. Let’s look at what rookies we will see line-up at A1.
Jett Reynolds – MUC-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha
One of the most successful amateurs in recent years, Jett Reynolds is not technically a “rookie” but he’s never raced a Supercross, so we are putting him here. Reynolds was set to make his pro debut last year at Detroit but an injury on press day would delay his debut. He would later suffer a broken pelvis that would put him out for the 2024 SX season.
Cole Davies – Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha
Davies was picked up by Star shortly after the SX season ended last year and would finish the year with the team as an amateur. It seemed as if the plan for Cole was one more year of Futures before he would go pro, but that quickly turned into possibly racing the East Region to now, where he will now be lining up at A1.
Gavin Towers – Phoenix Honda
Towers and the Star Yamaha team parted ways last year after Supercross Futures and Gavin would make the trip across the pond to compete in the FIM Motocross World Championship in the EMX250 class. After the season Towers would depart from the VRT Yamaha team and would go kind of quiet on social media until December when the Phoenix Honda team announced the signing of the rookie. Towers will be under the tent with Evan Ferry, who also is kind of in his rookie season after a crash in Detroit last year and later parting ways with Triumph.
Avery Long – AEO KTM
This off-season Avery was very open about his lack of opportunities coming into the 2025 season. Long found his home with AEO KTM squad and will be making his pro debut this weekend. With limited time on the bike and only being on the squad for about a month, Avery still sounded very positive and ready for the opportunity presented to him.
Noah Viney – Smartop MotoConepts Honda
Noah has been working with this team for the past year or so and has been getting some gate drops along the way. Noah raced the WSX series where he would finish 13th overall in his rookie season and currently sits 8th in points in the Kicker AMA Arenacross Championship.
Parker Ross – SLR Honda
Parker will be making his pro debut at A1 and has actually won an SX championship on this bike as he won the SX3 class in the Australian Supercross series this past season. Parker has been in the top six in 5 of the 7 SX Futures rounds, with two of those being on the podium. Ross has proven he has the speed and I think we will see his name in a lot of main events this year.
Preston Masciangelo – AJE GasGas
The Canadian will make his pro debut this weekend on the AJE GasGas team as the solo rider. Preston competed in SX Futures last year with a best finish of 11th at Anaheim 2. Preston trains on the East Coast at ClubMX so I was surprised to see him select the West Region.
Kaden Lewis – Gaskin Service/Gator Wraps Racing
The BMX’er turned motocross rider will be racing the West Region this year and is also competing in the Kicker AMA Arenacross Championship where he made his first ever mains last weekend in Loveland, CO, and is looking to build off that coming into the SX series.
Reven Gordon – Host Grindstone/Friesen Group Racing/RG Racing
The older brother of Team Green rider Landen Gordon looks to make his pro debut this weekend. We saw Reven race a handful times last year in the SX Futures and he would have a standout ride at the St. Louis round with his best finish of his four races, a 4th. Reven also raced round 1 of Pro Motocross at Fox Raceway, where he finished 29th.
