Updates on Avery Long, Talon Hawkins Following San Diego Supercross

The little engine that could, stopped in San Digeo.

AEO KTM isn’t the biggest team in the pits. But it’s a good team. Year-in and year-out it finds a path to success. Derek Kelley put in a boatload of top 10s during his time there and the team entered 2025 with a young squad that was hopeful to replicate the past success the team has enjoyed.

And it all came apart in San Diego.

Rookie Avery Long had a massive crash in the 250 LCQ at round 2 in San Diego and was unable to finish the race. Fortunately, according to the team, Long somehow escaped without any major injuries.

“Avery Long missed the main by one spot, then suffered a hard crash in the LCQ. He’s been released from the medical crew and will take the week to recover,” the team wrote on Instagram.

Former Rockstar Energy Husqvarna factory rider, Talon Hawkins had a crash in the same section as Long and sustained a broken femur that will require surgery. A timeline on his return has not been released.

“Talon Hawkins endured a brutal crash in the same section as Avery, unfortunately breaking his femur. He’ll undergo surgery today, and we’re wishing him a safe and speedy recovery. We’ll keep everyone updated as the season continues.”
