FOMO is an acronym for “fear of missing out”. It’s an anxious feeling that others might be having fun without you.
When we announced that The 500 West at Mesquite MX was sold out, there’s a good chance you were experiencing FOMO. The constant group texts with your buddies about missing your chance had your brain in a spin zone.
Lucky for you, Donny Emler Jr and FMF Racing heard your pleas to open a few more spots. After weeks of intense negotiations, we have decided to add more trail to the course which allows us to add an additional 20 spots!
This will be based on a first come, first serve basis. So, you better go get signed up because a second case of FOMO can have severe consequences.
Note: Your pit row number will be assigned upon arrival.
WHAT IS THE 500?
An 8-hr and 20-minute (500 total minutes) team or solo race with your boys (or girls). The course will consist of two tamed down moto tracks, a 5-6 mile off-road loop, and a hard enduro section (don’t worry, we have a Scaredy Cat lane). This equates to an average 17-minute lap time for a novice.
Whether you are a Hard Enduro Champion aiming for the pro purse or a weekend warrior looking for fun with your buddies, The 500 West is a perfect mix for all skill levels. The goal? Have fun, race your buddies and try not to throw up. Oh, and do more laps than whoever you’re trying to beat.
WHAT’S NEW?
A lot has changed for the second iteration of The 500 West. What can you expect in year two? We are expanding the track and making it bigger! Riders will be greeted with an even gnarlier FMF EnduroCross section (yes, we will have an easy route for riders like Vurb Crane), more options and a revamped pit lane.
What’s new with the pit lane? A lot, glad you asked. You will ONLY go down your respective pit lane (see map above) and pitting will now be optional. If you want to stay out for multiple laps and skip pit lane, you can. Talk about another component to add in to your team’s strategy! Also of note, all pit lanes will be a mandatory 10mph speed limit.
Ultimately, this means pitting will be way safer AND way less dusty. In addition, we’re completely changing the Pit Viper finish (now located following the EnduroCross section) so you can experience the pure joy of completing one of the hardest things you’ve ever done with a massive crowd cheering you on – and probably a Mariachi band as well.
