A very strange situation occurred on Friday at Daytona International Raceway, ahead of round 8 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.
Adam Cianciarulo, former Daytona SX winner and 250SX Champion and current co-host of Race Day Live, had a run-in with Daytona security and was escorted off the track and had his credentials taken away.
Today on his X account, Cianciarulo released a statement explaining his side of the story.
“I didn’t want to take any attention away from the racing this weekend, so I thought I’d let the dust settle before speaking on my incident with @DAYTONA security on Friday.
“I was watching press day in the infield of the track, and in between the 450 and 250 sessions, on my way back to the pits, I stopped on a section of the track *not* being used to watch the riders as they came by. At that point, the head of Daytona security—whose name I will leave out, approached me aggressively, telling me to get off the track, which I immediately did. He was in my face, and even though I showed him I had the proper credentials to be out there, he grabbed me by my arm and pulled me toward him. I was calm and understanding until then, but I had some choice words for him afterward. Had he just yelled at me, I would have let it go and kept it moving—but that is not ok.
“I was brought to the police, calmly explained my side of the story, and gave them my ID. At that point, another Daytona employee approached me, took my credentials, and told the officer to escort me out of the pits. Thankfully, some of my team had a conversation with security, and I was able to get my credentials back, but I was banned from the track for the remainder of the weekend. There have been some wild rumors surrounding this, so I wanted to clarify things on my end.
“Daytona is an iconic venue and one of my favorite events on the calendar, and this does not change that. Mistakes happen, however, for myself and the rest of the paddock—I hope we can learn from this and avoid similar circumstances moving forward. Let’s keep our focus on the talent on track.
“Thanks, ya’ll.”
In the 1980’s a very famous Indianapolis car driver was accosted by an overzealous security guard at the Meadowlands racetrack here in New Jersey. After the altercation and the guard picked herself up off the floor a warrant was issued for the driver.
He never returned to New Jersey and the guard was terminated.

What happened to Adam should NOT happen! If a security guard wants to invoke his “supreme power” over you they damn well be 100% right! I have had this happen to me and many moto parents in the past chasing the dream on the amuture circuits. I don’t understand why those who are paid to make sure the events go on without incident, choose to put there hands on you, or try…..This guy needs to loose his job.
This is certainly a bad look for Daytona motor speedway.
Anyone who would take offense at Adam C’s presence is really a deviant hunan.
Adam is perhaps the nicest fella we have in the pits.
If this is how Daytona motor speedway does their hiring and training actions, my family and will make sure and steer clear of that facility until hearing that they’ve changed their ways.
AC and the security incident could have been avoided. AC not only is a former professional athlete who has won there but was also cleared for press coverage by the track officials and those who run the series event. This escalated when the security supervisor called the local law enforcement and got them involved. Now, there is a scratch on AC’s record that will require a lawyer and the track officials to remove taking time, money, and energy from the event series. The security management team needs to be more vigilant about their actions and how it dims the light of the sport for all ages. Kids as young as three are there to watch their hero’s race and for some … AC is that hero. Even if he had some choice words for the security guards from this altercation he has the right to say them. He handled better than most of us would have.
A person with authority, that has feelings of inadequacy; low self-esteem, is a very hard person to reason with. Bullying is their go-to. The only thing you can do is take the high road. It truly does take a better man to suffer ignorance and smile. Sorry for your incident Adam.
Unwanted touching and/or threatening is considered assault. AC sure handled it a lot better than most would have. He has a 1000% more right to be in that track than the rent a cop.
I worked the track as a flagger for all the FL MX and SX events for 25 years and never had an issue anywhere but Daytona. The security staff was frequently aggressive and disrespectful.
I expect Adam’s side is understated due to his profile as an announcer and the need to remain politically correct.
