It was all a dream. I used to read Mini Rider magazine! For a kid growing up smack dab in the middle of Canada, the moon felt closer than tracks like Oakhill and Lake Whitney. Back then clicking out a video link on your web browser usually meant the sudden opening of Windows Media Player because embedded video content was still on the horizon. That is where I discovered amateur moto through Vurbmoto. This entire paragraph makes me and that Vurbmoto staff sound super old so let’s just cut the to chase. Over two decades ago I was so drawn in by the sights and sounds of motocross and that addiction only was made worse by how well Vurbmoto covered the races during those years. The OG Vurbmoto crew is majorly to blame for fact that I’ve now released over 900 podcasts and been able to hist shows with athletes like Rick Johnson and Jeremy McGrath along the way.
Blah Blah Blah, worked super hard, kept it, you know the story. Smash cut to a text I received from Wes Williams and Chase Stallo. (Guys I’ve looked up to my entire adult life despite being taller than both). Eight hours after arriving in Mesquite for the 44th running of the World Mini Grand Prix, I was handed a GoPro and told to do exactly that, Go Pro with the Vurbmoto Vlog. I’d be lying if I told you I had ever used a GoPro before and same goes for vlogging unless you count stories on the gram which I’ve been doing for years. I had a blast working with the Vurbmoto guys and I have never gelled with a crew as quickly as I did with Wes Williams and the gang.
Let the vlogs from World Mini serve as proof of two things. First, GoPros are extremely user friendly because I was able to collect all the content needed for the vlogs without so much as a crash course or paging through the owner’s manual. Secondly, the power of seizing an opportunity cannot be measured. The guys at Vurbmoto turned me loose on World Mini and I let the creative juices flow. You can do the same.
That should be all the confidence you need to get yourself a GoPro, mount it to a rider 18 years of age or younger and create some epic content. Riding clips, mock interviews in the pits, random shenanigans collect the shots, edit it down or have your parent or guardian (unless you’re 13 or older) submit everything for the Vurbmoto guys to sort through. Now you’ve entered the GoPro Grom Quest for your chance to be part of the GoPro team. If you or your grom happen to be on a STACYC, you’ve supersized your entry because Everyone who submits their kid shredding a STACYC to GromQuest by July 1, 2023, will have a chance to win a 16-inch STACYC, a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini and a $200 Vurb shopping spree!
You can find ALL details on how to submit and how it works here.
Submissions to the Grom Quest must feature an individual under the age of 18 to be eligible. Submitters must be the parent or legal guardian of the individual in the video or be at least 13, be the individual in the video, and have their parent or legal guardian’s consent to submit.
