Every year a few classes stick out from the others and just really grab your attention.. Let’s take a look at what classes you HAVE to watch this week.
250 and Open Pro Sport
I think this is a no brainer. This class showcases emerging talent and future stars of the sport, as riders in this class are typically younger and hungry to make a name for themselves. With the fence line packed for this race, the atmosphere of this class is intense and aggressive. The stepping stone into the pro ranks, this class will show you the ambition and determination of these kids who have put their lives into this sport from the time they were four. Some will rise to the occasion and prove their talents, while for others an off week could be the end of a career. Emotions will run high in this class and should make for some amazing racing, do not miss this race.

Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C
I feel like this is an underrated class. I mean it’s 40 125cc souped up machines just fully wide open around the track. For the older viewers or Washed Up Dirtbikers like Wes, this is your class. This will take you back to the good ol’ days where the fastest guys where the 125A class and times were good. I was just a wee little man during those days so I really enjoy getting to see these two strokes rip. I mean Johnathan Yelton still races a Honda CR125 with the woodpecker graphics on the side, what’s more sick than that? On top of this class just being absolutely incredible, there are some rippers in this class such as Chace Lawton, Colby Lessar, Brennan Harrison, Mason Pappas, Kannon Hargrove, Owen Covell, Riley Busse, and Trinnytie Batchelor. Yeah, thats a long list but I could literally name this whole class, so if you want to relive the old days and see a bunch of rippers going stupid fast on a two stroke, this is your class.
Supermini 1 (12-15) and Supermini 2 (13-16)
In my eyes this is one of the most important classes in a young rider’s career. With minimal spots on teams like Orange Brigade, the new GasGas MOB, or Team Green in the little bike ranks, this is a chance for these guys to prove they are worth a spot on those teams moving to big bikes. With many teams like NSA Yamaha, EBR, and SLR Honda these guys only have riders in the 125 classes and up. So now imagine 40 kids on souped up 112cc superminis all fighting for those minimal spots, that’s the Supermini classes. We’ll see 40 12-16 year old kids all trying to prove they are the next big thing and get the support that everyone wants/needs. With the rise in the cost of racing, this not only puts pressure on families, but for the kids as well. These guys are old enough to know they need to perform to not only put themselves in better situations, but for their families as well.

Micro 1 (4-6) Shaft Drive Limited
While most find this class boring, this class shows the true meaning of grit in motocross. These kids range from 4 – 6 years old and ride the most gnarly track they probably have ever been on. Whether the conditions are perfect or a swamp, these little guys will be out there giving it everything they have. I mean just last year during a mud race a kid lost his boots and still freaking finished the race, with no boots. This little dude rode a whole Moto bare foot, just think about that. While this class is all about getting kids into the sport, you will see the pure determination in their eyes and the competitiveness in these guys once on the track. Plus you never know which one of these little dudes could be the next superstar of our sport.
Key Riders to Watch:
We don’t know yet…
Junior 25+
Yeah you read that right, that’s a vet class and it’s a must watch. The 25+ class is going to be a complete shootout. We have team owners, we have ex pros, we have test riders, trainers, you name it, and this class has it. With names like Brandon Haas, Heath Harrison, Jacob Hayes, Kris Keefer, Cole Martinez, Broc Peterson, and Kyle Swanson. All these guys have a shot at winning the title and this could make for some of the best racing of the weekend. Oh yeah, not sure how I could forget, your rider’s favorite rider is back: Jason Lawerence! J-Law is back on the racing scene and this will be his first major race back since forever. If you’re at the Ranch, make sure to be on the fence for this one. If you’re at home, set an alarm, turn on YouTube, and thank me later.
