After every round, there is a ton of what I like to call little nuggets of information floating around. With so many avenues of information to consume–social, podcasts, newsletters, YouTube and so on–it can be hard to keep track of everything.
Being a one-time AMA Media Member of the Year nominee, I felt it was my duty to try and put everything in one, easy to find, place. So, that’s what I did. Welcome to a yet to be titled feature where I will post stuff I found interesting after races.
Finally, Roczen!
Maybe I’m wrong, but that was one of the best races I’ve seen Ken Roczen ride. Silky smooth, made precise passes and was able to hold off a hard charging Cooper Webb–something he hasn’t been able to do often.
Winning at Daytona means something. No one remembers a win in Detroit. Or Indy. Or East Rutherford. But, they remember winning at Daytona. So, for Kenny to finally get it done was special. Like Malcolm winning in Tampa, these are moments that last a life-time.
“I honestly still can’t believe it,” he said on the podium. “I really put my head down, I had some really good lines. When you make those passes, you have to put your head down or else they will retaliate and come back. I was just charging the whole time trying to get a gap.”
After the race, in the post-race press conference, he added, “This is definitely up there as one of my best main event wins ever, and it’s pretty surreal because I’ve actually been pretty far away from it here.”
The win was the 23rd of Roczen’s career and his first win at Daytona in 11 attempts. The win was Suzuki’s first since 2009 at the iconic speedway when Chad Reed took home the victory.

Mumford Docked Four Spots
Quad Lock Honda’s Carson Mumford was penalized four positions following the 250SX East Division main event at Daytona “for off track advantage during start of race.” The penalty moved Mumford for 7th to 11th in the final results.
“DAYTONA well I finished in 7th but unfortunately was penalized 4 spots for going off the track,” Mumford wrote on IG. “I got a good start and came into the second corner battling for 3rd but unfortunately @maxanstie had a crash right in front of me. My only options were to run him over and try and stay in the top five or just go off the track and lose a lot of positions. I obviously chose to do the safe thing and go off the track as I would hope anyone else would do the same if I crashed. I tried to re enter the track in the next safest spot and even let a few more guys pass me once I got on the track again but unfortunately it didn’t matter. I charged hard from 11th to 6th and after the restart I even passed into 5th for a few laps so that was great! In the end with my penalty I left with a 11th, is what it is I look forward to continuing on my path of progress! See everyone at the next race!”

Vohland Penalized Championship Points
Muc-Off/FMX/ClubMX Yamaha’s Maximus Vohland finished fifth in the 250SX main event on Saturday, his first top-five since Anaheim 1 in 2024. Post-race, the AMA docked him three championship points for failed post race sound check. His fifth place finish will stand.

Chizz Passes MC
Kyle “Fing” Chisholm. What a career this guy has put together. One that will stand the test of time. For all we know, the year will be 2058 and Chizz will still be racing. Never say never.
With his 19th place finish at Daytona, he broke a tie with Jeremy McGrath on the all-time 450SX start list. Chizz has now made 174 career starts in the class and has passed the King of Supercross. Words I’d never thought I’d type.

Starling Sends Into 100th Career Main
In other stat news, Florida native Justin Starling made his 100th career start at his home race with a 20th place finish in the 450SX main event. Despite being sick, Star Dog was sending it in qualifying at Daytona.

McAdoo to Have Surgery
Looks like Cameron McAdoo is going to get his knee fixed and miss the rest of the season. Prior to the start of the 250SX East Division Championship, McAdoo sustained a torn ACL in his left knee. While he was able to finish third at the opener, he hurt it worse at Daytona and did not line up for the main event on Saturday despite finishing 7th in his heat race.
After the race on the SMX Insider Post-Race Show, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team owner Mitch Payton confirmed that McAdoo will have surgery.
“Cameron hurt his knee worse, and we decided that’s it. So, he will go get that fixed, that’s the end of that,” Payton said. “He tried and it’s bad and he needs to get it fixed. It was starting to swell up again and it was looser than it was and it’s worse than initial, so we’re gonna just get it fixed.”
