What a turnaround it has been throughout the first three rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship for HRC Honda’s Chance Hymas!
Young Hymas has gone 3-4-2-4-4-1 to start the season and we definitely didn’t see that coming. He now sits tied for second in the 250MX standings with Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle.
“I’m figuring it out and putting the pieces together,” Hymas said in the press conference. “The team and I have been working really hard and me and my trainer have been figuring some things out with my body.
That second Moto win for Hymas was a huge accomplishment for the 19-year-old, who also got a third place in the second Moto last year at this event. Even Moster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan had some praise for Hymas after the race.
“Chance is riding very well, I didn’t have the speed in that second Moto for him, but we ended up getting the overall.” Deegan said.
Hymas gets to work with the Lawrence brothers on a daily basis and has watched their every move. Jett and Hunter have been watching his progress for a couple of years now.
“It was awesome, I felt like a nervous mother out there,” Jett said. “I felt sick in my stomach, but it’s awesome to see. We ride with him every week and we see that every day when we ride with him.”
Hymas has been a part of the Honda program since 2022 and he added to Jett’s point later on in the press conference.
“We’re all like family nowadays,” Hymas said. “Especially Jett and Hunter. Jett was the first person that I saw when I came off of the track and he gave me a big hug, so it felt like a big win for everybody. I finally feel like I’m back to my old self.”
