The Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha team announced today that Christian Craig will miss round 10 of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross this weekend at Ironman.
Craig had a huge crash in the first 450 moto last weekend at Budds Creek. Craig washed out in the rollers right before the finish line and went flying into the trackside banners. He was unable to finish that moto.
Somehow, he was able to return for the second moto and finish eighth and salvaged 14th overall on the day.
While he was able to finish that moto, Craig has decided to sit out this weekend and hopes to return at round 11 at Fox Raceway 2.
In other news, Club MX Yamaha’s Garrett Marchbanks announced that his is dealing with Addison’s Disease and will miss this weekend.
According to the Mayo Clinic “Addison’s disease, also called adrenal insufficiency, is an uncommon disorder that occurs when your body doesn’t produce enough of certain hormones. In Addison’s disease, your adrenal glands, located just above your kidneys, produce too little cortisol and, often, too little aldosterone.”
Marchbanks said on Instagram that he’ll “do some testing soon and know if I’m ready for the final two rounds in Cali to end the season on a high note.”
Below is his full post:
“Not exactly the post I want to make right now but I’ve been having some struggles on the bike and finishing races. Like any top athlete, you know when something’s not right with your body but you keep fighting through it hoping it will go away. With the support of my team and a group of doctors, it turns out I have Addison’s Disease. I won’t be at Ironman this weekend but we have a recovery plan for the short and long term to get me back to 100%. I’ll do some testing soon and know if I’m ready for the final two rounds in Cali to end the season on a high note. Thanks for your understanding as I work through this issue.”
