Another piece of Silly Season news dropped over the weekend. Christian Craig will return to Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha in 2022.
According to the team, Craig will be on the same program he was this year. He will contest the 250 Class in Monster Energy Supercross before moving up to the 450 Class for Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.
Craig has raced the 450 Class in Pro Motocross a number of times in his career, including in 2020, when he finished sixth overall in the series while filling-in for Ken Roczen at Honda HRC.
In his first year with the team, Craig was in title contention, as he entered round eight of nine of the East Region Championship in Salt Lake City, trailing his Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha teammate Colt Nichols by just eight points.
In the second qualifying session at that round, Craig mis-timed a rhythm section, had to eject from his bike and landed hard. Craig tried to race his heat but made it just a lap before pulling off. A fractured fibula and ankle sprain would end his season.
Craig returned in time for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross opener on Saturday at Fox Raceway where he went 11-9 for 12th overall in the 450 Class.
