Fresh off his second Monster Energy Supercross Championship, Red Bull KTM’s Cooper Webb has been nominated in the Best Athlete, Men’s Action Sports category for ESPN’s 2021 ESPYS Awards, which recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performances.
Webb won eight times during an intense championship battle with Ken Roczen and clinched his second title at the season finale at Salt Lake City 2, his second championship in the past three years.
Cooper is up against two snowboarders and X Games champions, Yuto Totsuka and Marcus Kleveland and surfing superstar Gabriel Medina.
In 2015, Ryan Dungey became the first motocross/supercross racer to win an ESPY and the first athlete not named Nyjah Huston or Shaun White to win the award since 2007. Dungey won a second straight time in 2016 after capturing his second straight Monster Energy Supercross title and fourth overall.
Travis Pastrana is the only other motorcyclist to win the award back in 2007 when he was recognized for his double backflip in 2006 and winning three gold medals at X Games in Moto X Best Trick, Moto X Freestyle, and Rally Car Racing.
You can vote for Webb here. The ESPYS will air on July 10 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
