Cooper Webb’s Wild Weekend: Getting Docked and Emergency Landing

What a strange weekend for Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb at his home round of the SMX Playoffs on Saturday in Charlotte.

The North Carolina native was docked six positions in the first 450 moto due to one of the most “I don’t give a f***” track cuts I’ve seen.

You can’t not respect this…

“I wasn’t able to get back on due to the concrete barrier and scissor lift, skipped a few too many turns to get back on behind the rider I had been behind and got docked six spots. My bad 💀,” Webb wrote on Instagram after the race.

Webb came back to finish 8th in the second moto for 10th overall and enters the second round this weekend 10th in points.

Well, that was the least of Webb’s worries, as he stated he had to make an emergency landing in Augusta following the race.

“Ended the night with an emergency landing in Augusta due to a blown engine that left a 💩 stain on the @ethika ‘s,” he wrote.

First, glad Cooper is okay. I’d probably never fly again and go full John Madden and just bus around the country eating turkey legs and drinking claws. Seeing as he flys for a living (basically), Coop will probably be on a plane this week.

Second, props getting that sponsor plug in there. That’s grade A right there. I have no idea how much Ethika pays Coop (free underwear? 1 million dollars? No clue) but they need to give him a bonus after that.
