Well, this stinks. Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX’s Coty Schock confirmed in an Instagram post last night that the collarbone that he injured in Daytona did in fact break in the Birmingham Main Event.
Here’s What We Know
- Schock and Haiden Deegan came together in the last turn of the main event for a seventh place finish.
- Schock went off the track and crashed.
- The awkward landing unfortunately broke his collarbone.
- Schock chalked it up as a racing incident.
- Deegan and Schock talked it over with AMA’s John Starling.
- Deegan’s mechanic Brent Duffe said in an Instagram comment that the AMA said that Deegan’s pass was fine and the ClubMX guys were told to “calm down and walk away”.
- Schock’s collarbone will require surgery,
- Schock’s mustache is rad and has powers…just like John Short.
The Last Turn
Update
This puts Schock’s amazing season on hold. He was let go by the Phoenix Honda team late into the offseason, made the move to ClubMX and was offered a ride. He turned out to be the lone rider at the Arlington Supercross for the team and has been in the hunt for the points lead through the first four rounds of the 250SX East Region. His best finish this season was a fourth at the opening round in Detroit.
Schock won his first ever heat race on Saturday night, was credited with 8th place, and currently sits fifth in points. He is still only 12 points off of new points leader Tom Vialle.
