Dean Wilson gets the content game. He’s mastered it from a riders perspective.
People ask Slaw sometimes, why does Dean still get rides? For one, he’s still an amazing rider. Hell, he just won the Australian Supercross Championship and finished third in points in the FIM World Supercross Championship. I’d bargain to say that’s pretty good. But, hey, that’s just me.
Two, he is great at marketing. He knows how to represent his sponsors in a great and, more importantly, engaging way.
Well, Dean took the damn boat yesterday. He even tricked ole Slaw. I thought, briefly, that Dean was hurt again or was calling it quits. I was bummed.
Then I did what any capital J journalist does and continued watching his nearly 2 minute video. I’ll hold for applause.
Good one, Dean. Bravo.
Unfortunately, Dean did go on to say this might be his last season in AMA Supercross.
“Yes, it will most likely be my last season racing AMA Supercross. Reason being, my knee took such a toll. So much damage. I’ve torn my ACL five times. I have really bad arthritis. I have no cartilage. No meniscus. It’s just bone on bone and honestly 17 rounds in a row is just really gnarly.”
Honestly, I have no idea how Dean is walking, rather less winning Aussie SX titles. If this is indeed the last season of AMA Supercross for Dean, we will miss him.

Dean, bummer. I had no idea your knees were so bad.
I met you one in Calgary. I did not recognize you though, I felt like an idiot. Love your social media posts, all the best!
