Derek Kelley Calls it a Season After Texas Motor Speedway Crash

AEO Powersports KTM’s Derek Kelley had a big crash in practice in the rhythm lane at Texas Motor Speedway last Saturday. He actually took a handlebar to his downstairs region and honestly it sounds pretty painful.

We would like to invite you to take a look at his Instagram post below to see for yourself.

Kelley has made the decision to sit out this weekend’s SMX Playoff finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway due to not being 100%.

The good news for DK is that we’ve heard from more than a handful of teams that would like his services for the 2025 season and beyomd. His current deal with AEO Powersports KTM is up at the end of the season. We’ve heard that AEO would love to keep Kelley around, so another offer from them is on the table as well.

Kelley missed the entire 250SX West Region Championship due to a broken arm and returned to race the 450 Pro Motocross Championships where he finished 18th in the final standings. His best finish was 12th overall at Washougal.
