Drew Adams to Make Pro Supercross Debut at Anaheim 2

Mitch Payton has found a rider for Anaheim 2.

Payton’s Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, which has lost Ty Masterpool and Garrett Marchbanks to injury this week, has called up 16-year-old Drew Adams to race round 3 of Monster Energy Supercross today.

Adams was originally scheduled to race Supercross Futures this year with an option to fill-in if needed. Well, he is needed and will make his Supercross pro debut today.

After collecting three wins in Supercross Futures, winning the Nicky Hayden AMA Motocross Horizon Award, and finishing second in the MX2 Class at the Canadian Motocross Championship in 2024, the Tennessee native made his Pro Motocross debut at the Ironman finale and finished 12th overall.

Adams signed a multi-year deal with the team this off-season and was expected to racer Supercross Futures before turning pro full-time in Pro Motocross. His contract did include an option to fill-in in Supercross if needed and with the rash of injuries the team has had this season, it was announced yesterday at press day that he will indeed race this weekend.

“Big thanks to everyone who’s helped me get to this point,” he wrote on Instagram. “Tomorrow, I get to chase a dream I’ve had forever. I’m so grateful for everyone who’s been part of the journey, I’ll never forget it. I can’t promise a win, but I can promise to give it everything I’ve got every time I hit the track. Thank you to my family for all they’ve sacrificed and to the sponsors who’ve believed in me. If you’re at A2, swing by the @pcraceteam truck and say hey. Let’s do this!”
