Two titles are up from grabs this weekend in Foxborough and there is a high chance both will be clinched.
Let’s start with 450 points leader Eli Tomac and what he needs to do to clinch this weekend—three rounds early!
Tomac enters this weekend with a 53 point lead over Atlanta winner Jason Anderson. With only two rounds left following Foxborough, that means a max of 52 points will be available following Saturday.
What does that mean for Tomac? All he needs to do is beat Anderson and he will clinch his second 450 title. The only way for Anderson to stay alive and take the title fight to Denver is by taking two or more points out of Tomac’s lead. This could certainly happen, but Tomac has a good chance to clinch early.
Now let’s move to the 250SX East Region. Following this weekend, there is only one East Region race left—the 250SX East/West Showdown in Salt Lake City—which means only a max of 26 points will be up for grabs.
Jett enters the weekend with a 47 point lead over RJ Hampshire, which means it would have to be a disastrous weekend for the points leader for him not to clinch.
Hampshire needs to pick up 22 points on Jett his weekend. If he wins, he’d need Lawrence to finish 19th or worse. If he finishes second, he would need Lawrence to finish dead last!
Some champagne will likely be popped this weekend, that’s for sure.
