With his fourth win in the 250SX West Region last weekend in Denver, Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence pushed the title chase to the final round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross this weekend in Salt Lake City.
With Eli Tomac (450SX) and Jett Lawrence (250SX East Region) already clinching their respective titles, the West Region title fight between Hunter and Christian Craig will be the only title up for grabs at the finale.
Despite Hunter’s win last weekend, Craig enters the weekend with an 18 point advantage and his fingers tightly grasped around his first career title.
How does Craig clinch this weekend?
It’s pretty simple: Craig needs nine points or 14th or better to clinch the title. In the case that Hunter wins (he would own the tiebreaker on wins at that point with 5), a 14th will result in Craig having 224 points and Lawrence 223 points, thus giving Craig the title.
Considering Craig hasn’t finished outside the top five since joining Star Yamaha in 2021, it certainly looks like Craig will be popping some champagne in SLC.
