Daytona Bike Week kicks off 24 hours early this year with a dirt bike race you aren’t going to want to miss. The soldiers of Arenacross (and some brave privateer militia members from Supercross) have invaded the beaches of Daytona! Arenacross takes center stage in the world of motorcycle racing for the day and has plenty of exciting storylines to entertain!
Catch all the action live with Steve Matthes (local legend Tim Ferry’s man-friend) from PulpMX and former Supercross champion (and Arenacross bridesmaid) Denny Stephenson calling the action live on ArenacrossAllAccess.com. If you don’t want to listen to the four-time Manitoba champion and Mr. Dash for Cash host a bunch of the sports past and present stars call the action, you can tune in live on MavTV and hear the normal call from the five-time Arenacross Champion Buddy Antunez and another bridesmaid of yesteryear, David Pingree from Whiskey Throttle Media.
Here is what to watch for in Daytona:
- The Title Fight is Hotter than the Florida Sun
- 4x and defending champion Kyle Peters carries a 9 point lead into the home stretch with only four rounds and eight main events remaining
- Ryan Breece has 13 main event wins this season and is on an 8 main event win streak. That’s more than points leader Kyle Peters has all season (KP has 7 wins this season).
- Racing on the Beach… no really! Can we mix in a dirt section?
- Traditional indoor racing is on sticky or sometimes hard-packed dirt. That’s not readily available in Florida and the track is very sandy.
- The format brings a ton of racing with very little downtime to keep the fans amped, but that means the track will definitely break down.
- The Smoke Show is Back!
- What’s that sweet sound and smell? The 2 Stroke Challenge returns for Daytona with $10,000 on the line and $5k of it going to the winner.
- Justin Rodbell cashed in at the opener and is back in Daytona to fill his pockets again.
- Jared Lesher is always bringing the smoke, “Joe Dirt” Caleb Carter from Nitro Circus fame is in the house, and even “The Flying Taco” Carlos Short has returned to action.
