Hymas on Off-Season Injury, Health: “I don’t have a lot of bike time right now, started riding before Christmas then I had a couple health issues and had to take more time off”

The 2025 250SX East Region kicks off tomorrow in Tampa and as we’ve outlined elsewhere, a lot of the top contenders are coming in at less than 100%.

RJ Hampshire is working back from a wrist injury. Cameron McAdoo torn his ACL last week testing, but it hoping to make it through the Supercross season.

Meanwhile, Chance Hymas is coming back from off-season knee surgery and hasn’t had a ton of time on the bike, as he explained in the pre-race press conference Friday.

“I’m feeling pretty good, don’t have a lot of bike time right now, started riding before Christmas then I had a couple health issues and had to take more time off,” he said. “Now I’ve done some testing with the team and I’m feeling pretty good. I hammered the rehab out and was getting my body in shape. We had a plan and the goal was to make the first round and we are here. At least I give myself a shot by lining up.”

The Idaho native made his pro debut at the 2022 Pro Motocross season opener and enjoyed a breakout season in 2024. Following a successful AMA Supercross Championship in which he finished seventh overall in the 250SX East Region, Hymas went on a tear in Pro Motocross, finishing the season with four overall podiums, including his first career win at Red Bud. He would finish fourth overall in the championship and was named the MX2 (250) rider for Team USA at the Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin, UK. Unfortunately, a knee injury sustained at the opening round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs forced him to withdraw from the team.

Can Hymas carry over his Pro Motocross success to Supercross?

“Right now I have to race my way into shape and don’t take more risks than I need to,” he said. “Talking to the team, our goal is a motocross championship right now. They weren’t planning on me racing here. Unfortunately the last few years I’ve missed some races and valuable race experience. I’m just trying to learn as much as I can for next year.”
