“I Want This Freaking Win Man!” Hunter Lawrence Wants to End the Season on a High Note

On paper Hunter Lawrence’s rookie 450 Pro Motocross season has been pretty exceptional.

His worst overall finish has been a fourth at Washougal and that was after feeling the effects of his violent crash at RedBud. That RedBud crash took more out of his sails than he led on. So, for those keeping count at home, that’s nine overall podiums and six of those podiums have been second place finishes.

I’m basically Clinton Fowler Jr. with this information. You’re welcome.

He doesn’t ride like a rookie in the class at all and he’s consistent, just like a seasoned veteran would be. Lawrence wants an overall win and badly to end the season on a high note at Ironman this coming weekend.

“I want this freaking win man,” Lawrence said. “I just want one of these freaking wins. It’s so close, point-wise and we have enough, but it’s the count back that’s screwed me three times this year. Well not screwed me, it’s just racing, I just have to be better in the second moto. Maybe we’re going to sandbag the first moto and then we’ll be good the second one,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence has three moto wins this season, but all of those have been in the first motos.

Lawrence enters the final round as the only rider not named Chase Sexton with a chance at the 450 Pro Motocross Championship. Although he’s sitting with a 28-point defecit, he remains the only other rider with a mathematical chance to win the title.

That is of course if things go worse case scenario for Sexton. We’ve seen crazier things happen in this sport, so you can’t count a title before it happens.

Lawrence currently sits second in the SuperMotocross Playoff points behind…Chase Sexton.
