“I went from riding with one teammate, one guy, my whole career. Now I’m riding with probably 10 guys” Pierce Brown on Move to Star Racing

Tampa Supercross will mark the first race in Pierce Brown’s pro career that he will not spend under the Troy Lee Designs umbrella.

The Utah native turn pro full-time in 2020 with the then Troy Lee Designs KTM squad. When the team moved to GasGas, Pierce did as well. In fact, he’s spent his entire career with the team… until now.

When it was announced that TLD would no longer run the GasGas program, Brown, for the first time in his career, was on the move. This off-season he signed with Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing and will make his team debut Saturday in Tampa, the opening round of the 250SX East Region.

At the press conference on Friday, Brown talked about the move to Star:

“Overall the move is smooth,” he said. “Everything happened quick after Vegas, flew to Tallahassee and got my house sorted in. I feel like I put in more than a full off season of riding so I’m feeling good, now I’m excited to get gate drops and see where we stack up.

“[Riding with teammates] that was the biggest change for me, I went from riding with one teammate, one guy, my whole career. Now I’m riding with probably 10 guys. The track breaks down and I think that’s the best way to prepare for race day. Some days you’re the fastest and some days you’re the nail. That’s been fun to navigate and keep your composure.”

Coming off his first career win at the SuperMotocross Playoffs final in Las Vegas, Brown is seeking his first career title in a loaded 250 class. Will the move to Star be the missing piece?
