It was a rough day at the office for HRC Honda’s Jett Lawrence at Hangtown. By now we’ve all seen the vicious hit that he took after pulling the holeshot in Moto 1.
Jett was of course slow to get up and it was impressive to see him go from dead last, way, way, back, to 24th by the end of the moto. He could have easily just pulled it in and started fresh in the second Moto, but instead he fought for points, but came up just short of getting some.
We saw the pre-race and post-race interviews with Jettson, talking about how he was, but we didin’t see an official press release come through on the situation.
Late last night the Honda Racing Instagram put out some sort of an update on Jett that really says the same thing that he’s been saying all along.
The biggest quote to take from this is the “giant chunk” that is missing from the leg. We want to see it. We definitely want to see it, not because we don’t believe you, but because we want to see what happened. Make it happen Mirts, thanks!

Every great legendary rider in his era changed the way Motocross was ridden. Roger DeCoster, Bob Hannah, David Bailey and Johnny O’mara, Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Stanton bulldog era, Ricky Carmichael bulldog era, the James Stewart gymnastic era, and now we’re seeing the Jett Lawrence ultimate perfect position era. He and Chase Sexton are textbooks to watch and learn.
It’s hard to fathom that these people that do so incredibly well what most of us end up being only pretty good at if we’ve won a local race are actually humans. But all humans, even the best among us are prone to slight mistakes or the whims of luck.
Later today I’m going to the wake of local pro and sometime national writer Austin barrens, Austin lost his life earlier this week in a freak accident where a scrub went wrong and he caught a footpeg on the lip of the jump. Austin was not only a pro race so he was a motocross coach. May he rest in peace and maybe I’ll remember that accidents can happen., 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏾🫂🏁💖
