Joey Savatgy Inks Deal with Fire Power Honda for World Supercross and 2025 SX/MX

Following a tough debut season with Factory Triumph in the 250 Class in Pro Motocross, Joey Savatgy has landed a new 450 deal for the FIM World Supercross Championship.

Joe Dog has signed with Fire Power Honda after parting ways with Triumph prior to the SuperMotocross Playoffs.

As Triumph won’t launch its 450 team in 2025 (it will be launching its 450 bike soon), Savatgy wanted a 450 deal and its expected he will ride for Fire Power Honda in Monster Energy Supercross in 2025. He would also do WSX.

UPDATE: Fire Power has already confirmed Joey for 2025 SX, MX and WSX.

Savatgy has competed in the last two years of the series and finished runner-up to Ken Roczen on both occasions.

“To get the call from this team was exactly what I needed. I wanted to race a 450, but unfortunately, the team I was with didn’t have one,” he said. “This team has proven themselves in the 450 class – [Justin] Brayton’s been on the podium in the US, Kenny [Roczen] won in Paris and the WSX, Dean [Wilson] achieved top 10, and they’ve even had some strong outdoor finishes. I’ve known Martin [Davalos] and Yarrive [Konsky] for a long time; I raced in Australia over 15 years ago as a junior against Yarrive’s team, and I’ve also competed against the team in WSX and AMA SX.

“I know I’m joining a solid team. Plus, the Honda is a proven race bike, which gave me extra confidence. I want to race against the best and compete for the world title, but I have to be mindful of my limited time on the 450. I’m glad the gap between rounds one and two is about a month apart; it gives me plenty of time to get stronger and more comfortable. The series requires consistency, so my goal for round one is to finish on the podium and build from there.”

Dean Wilson will be the other 450 rider for Fire Power Honda in the championship.

Under new ownership, the 2024 four-round WSX campagin kicks off in Vancouver on Oct. 26 before a double-header in Australia and the finale in Abu Dhabi.
