Slaw feels bad for Jordon Smith. The kid is super duper incredibly talented, but can’t seem to escape the injury bug.
Smith came into the West Region opener at Orlando 2 dealing with a lingering thumb injury. Then he went down hard in the whoops and got banged up even more.
Luckily he was able to return at Daytona, but fell in the second qualifying session and got clipped by another rider. The end result: 20 stitches in his buttock!
I could think of about 99 other places I’d rather have stitches and one place I wouldn’t.
“Well where do I even start….it has been a very rough go of it for a while for me now. When it seems it can’t get worse it does,” he wrote on Instagram. “But I am going to keep pushing and trying my best! I don’t give up and I will accomplish what I started.
“A little bit of insight on what happened yesterday. (I will save you guys the pain of the whole story) I fell early in the second practice and I got clipped by another rider. His foot peg cut my butt and I ended up getting about 20 stitches. I got a lot closer to the Alpinestar medical crew???????????????? thank you Dr. Bodnar and crew for stitching me up and getting me back out there for the night show. But I was definitely hurting and I have a lot of bruising on my tailbone. I gutted it out and did the best I could! I’m doing all the therapy I can to be ready for next week in Arlington!
“Thanks @pcraceteam and @mtfmx for having my back and believing in me. We will turn this around and show all the hard work we put in!”
Poor, Jordon. Get better buddy.
