Julien Beaumer is Racing Jet Ski’s AND SuperMotocross at the SAME Time!

Throughout history we’ve seen some amazing two-sport athletes up in the mix. Obviously you have the most well knowns, Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders, who played Major League Baseball and in the National Football League as well. Then you have an action sport’s icon in Shaun White who competed in Snowboarding as well as Skateboarding events, most notably the X Games.

Although, White did briefly start training for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Skateboarding, he eventually called off that dream. But still, that’s elite. Where am I going with this?

Oh yeah, Factory Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer has actually qualified for the 43rd Annual Short Block Technologies WGP-1 on October 5-14 in Lake Havasu, Arizona. That’s good news for Juju because that’s where he lives! We’ve known that Beaumer was actually a hot shot Jet Ski racer before he made a name for himself last year during the 2023 250SX Futures program, however until our buddy Jason Weigandt brought it up during the Charlotte SMX press conference, we had no idea he was racing ski’s again.

Turns out, the last time that he had raced jet ski’s, or wave runners, or I guess the better term is ‘Jet Sports’, was in 2020, and Juju said that KTM was actually easy to persuade to race them again.

“KTM let me qualify since it was an off weekend and with it being after the season is over they are fully for it,” Beaumer said.

Beaumer told us that other than the King’s Cup in Thailand, the IJSBA World Finals is the biggest Jet Sports racing event in the world. He raced last weekend in Texas to qualify for the World Finals. After four years away from the sport it actually went very well!

“I won on Saturday and got second on Sunday, so it was alright,” Beaumer said in the press conference.

Maybe the return to water racing is just what the 250SX and Pro Motocross Rookie of the Year needed in his program because in Charlotte Beaumer accomplished his first career podium. He finished second overall with 2-4 moto scores. His starts were on point in both gate drops. So, what made the difference for him considering he’s never actually raced an SMX Playoff race before?

“I’ve been riding really good at home all season, just never executed on Saturday,” Beaumer said. “I feel like I’ve been gaining confidence from my riding at home, so just getting two good starts like I did today and executing the plan how we wanted.”

Beaumer currently sits fifth in the SuperMotocross Playoff points, which is great news for him considering double and triple points are on the line for the final two rounds.

We’ll keep you posted on how Juju does at the Jet Sports World Finals. When we told him how we’re now comparing him to the greatest two-sport athletes of all-time he seemed pretty excited about it.

“It’s crazy thinking about it,” Beaumer said.

To be honest, all of us here at Vurb are just happy to know that Juju actually knows who Bo Jackson is.
