The 250SX West Division was back in action Saturday night in Arlington after a long break in the series and it was a weird night for Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer.
The second year pro entered Arlington with a two point lead over Jordon Smith in the championship, but never quite looked like himself in the main events, riding to 6-8-4 finishes for sixth overall. With his finish and Haiden Deegan’s win, Beaumer now sits second in points, six behind Deegan.
While he was quick not to make excuses, it was revealed after the race in the KTM press release that Beaumer was riding was a gosh dang dislocated shoulder. Per the team, it happened in qualifying and Beaumer had to manage it during the main events.
“Tough night in Arlington,” he said. “A crash in practice dislocated my shoulder and I just had to manage things from there. My riding wasn’t the greatest, but all we can do is shift our focus and get ready for Indy. We’ll get the shoulder checked out this week, get back to work, and come out swinging.”
Sixth overall with a dislocated shoulder has to be a positive for JuJu. He salvaged what he could and now has a week off before the West Region returns in Indy. The bad news: its an East/West Showdown and it he’s nursing an injury, he’ll have a lot more talent to contend with.
