Prior to the start of the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, defending 250SX West Region Champion Justin Cooper sustained a broken foot and will miss the entire season.
“I have broken and dislocated 4 metatarsals and have some fractures in the center of my foot as well. Will most likely get surgery early next week,” he wrote on Instagram. “Not the way i wanted to start the year off, everything has been going really good until this. This is called a Lisfranc injury and will probably put me off the bike for about 6 months.”
According to a recent post on social media, Cooper underwent surgery this past Tuesday and is on the road to recovery.
“Update: officially on the road to recovery! Had surgery on Tuesday and it went perfect. The doctor said my foot was more unstable than the X-rays and CT scan showed. All the metatarsals were displaced so he was able to get everything back in place nicely. Pain has just started to ease up on me and I’m happy to be headed back home! Thank you for all the texts, messages, phone calls. Means a lot.”
A timetable on his return to racing has not been announced.
