We’re gearing up for our annual Vurbmoto Classic at NXT LVL 101 in South Carolina on September 13-15. It’s our biggest race of the year. If you don’t believe us, just ask riders like Jo Shimoda, Haiden Deegan, Adam Cianciarulo, Justin Barcia, Justin Cooper, Cooper Webb, among others what this race meant to their careers. They will tell you that it completely changed the trajectory of their careers. We took them to the top baby! Now we will take you to the top. Sign up for your classes today and see if you can become King or Queen of the Classic.
Let me start this column by saying that Kevin Windham is a National Treasure and he must be protected at all costs. He’s an AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer and absolute legend. However, if you take dirtbikes out of the picture, K-Dub is just a genuine dude.
If he were to ask me to run three miles for no apparent reason, I’d immediately start running like Forrest Gump and never look back until I completed the journey…and I absolutely can’t stand running.
We’re starting to see K-Dub at the races more than usual. He was at Loretta Lynn’s with his Farm 14 riders, but the announcing team ended up kidnapping him and then he announced all week with them. Then he came on Radio Fox for one of the biggest YouTube moments of the year.
Then he showed up at Ironman Raceway as a coach/mentor at the Moto Combine. If you were one of the riders on his team, then you are destined for greatness and keep holding onto the dream brotha’.
That wasn’t the biggest news of the weekend for me though. Our friend Rupert X, AKA Rup Dog, reported on social media that Windham, dressed in an AMA shirt, was handing out water to the riders after the race.
With temperatures nearing 100 degrees on Saturday in a random valley in Indiana, this was much welcomed I’m sure. I’ve been going to Ironman since the inaugural round in 2014 and that track gets 0 air flow.
Rup Dog caught me off guard a bit on his report because he said that some of the riders didn’t know that it was K-Dub handing out the high quality H2O. With K-Dub, you know he tested that water and made sure it was absolutely perfect before handing it out to his fellow riders.
HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO KEVIN WINDHAM, THE KING OF THE TRANSFER, THE CURATOR OF THE HEEL CLICKER, THE MAN WHO COULD BEAT RICKY CARMICHAEL AND CHAD REED ON ANY GIVEN DAY IS?
Now, I wasn’t there to see this in person, but my guy Rup is a very trusted source and he’s been snapping some of the best candid photos at the races for centuries now. In Rup Dog I trust. Bring back the Rupert X Show and all that.
Shame on all of you riders. I want you to not do a single lap this week and watch all of K-Dub’s career races until you memorize his face. This LEGEND was out in the HEAT of battle with y’all.
How could none of you even accept his water? How could none of you stop and ask him about the Charlotte Supercross in 1998, or Glen Helen 2003, or even Indianapolis 2008? What about Unadilla 2007? Anything? It’s sad what we’ve become.
The next time that a legend wants to take time out of his day and hand you a water to drink, you better shotgun that thing and ask for another…then ask him how HE is.
Kevin Windham ladies and gentleman. What a great guy he is. None of you riders that brushed him off deserve him.
