YEWWWWWWW its time to take this sh*t outdoors! FINALLY! shoot this is called lowercase predictions not all caps predictions, any who, welcome to lowercase prediction, where I give you my less than bold predictions for round 1 of the lucas oil pro motocross championship at pala, err fox, raceway and beyond.
since i seemed to have missed the invite text from Slaw Dog for the roundtable column with bird dog and troy dog i was left no choice but to give you cats my .02 on the impending war for the great outdoors. the story lines are as plentiful as the hotdogs at the shred tour this season and we are going to exploit the hell out of each and every single one of them. but first, my responses to the roundtable.
- will jett lawrence v. justin cooper rivalry heat up this year?
what if jett tries to feed j coops dog a donut? would that be viewed as a gesture of kindness or would it be an act of war? either way i will be sitting front row, eating donuts while petting my dogs, watching this unfold. now if you remember my lowercase prediction i called for j coops to take the title come september over the brothers lawrence. i’m not saying it’s going to come easy for justin but rather the opposite, these guys will be mixing it up along with 10 other guys for the top 3 spots week in and week out.
2. roczen is back after and outdoor hiatus, is he the favorite?
unfortunately no, not a chance. now i know you are asking yourself, how can i say that about a multi time mx and world champion? simply put, the past tells all, pair that with failing to close out the supercross season and im worried. we have seen the late season fade for that last few seasons and this year was no different. i pray for the sport i’m wrong and he is still a factor come hangtown.
3. what’s your favorite vurb s(tew)lect from the past and why?
freestone 2012. this edit truly has it all. dungey and stew looking like they body wrestled in an inflatable pool full of ketchup and mustard. walters, crane and wes on the cameras. peak stew years. roczen and tomac looking like children on the podium and blake baggett launching into the 12 pack harder than the fans were throwing back 12 packs. full punk rock vibes as a select should be. if you aren’t sold by now you can close this window because it isn’t going to get much better from here. also there’s stew.
ps. vurbmoto shred tour is going to be at oakhill, tx the weekend of my birthday, june 26-27th. as if you needed another reason to be there. well aside from all the hotdogs.
ok. now that we are all caught up let’s get to the reason you are all here, lowercase prediction time.
450 class
- ac9
- kr94
- ja21
in the latest vmz episode you may recall i made the fairly bold prediction of calling adam cianciarulo for the 450 title and i am standing firm on that. i also called for zach osborne and chase sexton for the 2 and 3 spots at the end of the season yet i sit here before you calling ken roczen and jason anderson for the podium this weekend? what can i say, lowercase predictions. i’m not going to lie, i’m confused by my own tactics.
250 class
- j law
- j coops
- sushi
donuts > dogs, for this weekend at least. i know there will never be another j law but the new age 2021 tik tok version that we have isn’t too bad either. the swag that the kid brings to the table (of donuts) is that of chief luc 891, otherworldly. i think he will grab a start and set sail. v bold but also v lowercase. j coops will be thinking about petting his dog and put himself in a deep hole early in the moto but come through the insanely deep field, half of which are his star racing teammates. lurking in the background will be sushi in 3rd, that’s jo shimoda for those living under a rock. i like everything about this kid. good style, kit always looks fire, his nickname is sushi which happens to be a favorite food of mine, need i say more?
while his 2020 mx season may have started off like sh*t, forget not that shimoda ended the season with a 5th at fox raceway. pair that with this first sx win a few short weeks ago he is coming into the outdoors ready to crush some dreams.
i still stand firm on my 250 final series standings predictions of justin cooper taking the title, hunter lawrence in 2nd and jett lawrence in 3rd come september. again, confused by my own tactics.
