Eli Tomac’s Neck Injury

Eli Tomac had a weird night at Indy. The defending champion looked off all day and finished 8th, in the process losing the points lead for the first time in 2023. He now trails Cooper Webb by one heading into Detroit today.

Well, we now know why he was off in Indy. Tomac told Racer X on Friday’s press day that he was dealing with a strained neck last weekend.

“Uh, not really any changes going on. What happened in Indy is I had a strained neck. It was a huge bummer. It was a really technical condition and for that to happen it was like extra handicapped. That’s the reason I was rolling around—I don’t want to say rolling around—but was back in ninth and was struggling. I think it was pretty obvious to everyone’s point of view. So, yeah, just tried to get that better this week and it has gotten better. And I’m thankful that we’re not on that dirt here again at Detroit. And yeah, just keep going.”

Dylan Ferrandis has had a rough go in 2023. He’s had big crashes that have resulted in concussions. Yamaha and Ferrandis have made the decision for him to sit out at least six more weeks as he is set to begin a three-week rehabilitation to return to 100% and aims to resume racing before the end of the supercross season.

“After my crash at Houston and Daytona, I needed further evaluation,” he said. “I just started a three-week rehab to make sure everything is okay and with the goal to come back in around six weeks.”

Other Injury News
