The Rundown:
The Fire Power Honda team has been a force in the SuperMotocross Championship and for 2024 they are loaded with pretty much the same team they had in 2023, with the addition of a 250SX Futures rider. Gage Linville departs, but Will Campbell will start to make his transition into the pro ranks. He’ll dabble in 250SX Futures to see how he fares. Campbell should be a surprise standout in this class as his fitness and speed should be on point. He’s been at Millsaps Training Facility and the Fire Power Honda’s are proven, race winning, machines.
Then on the other end of his career is fan favorite Dean Wilson. DeanO spent the offseason winning the SX1 Australian Championship and doing very well in the World Supercross Championship. He found another level of speed that we haven’t seen from him in quite some time. He’s entering probably his last season of Monster Energy Supercross and he’s going to put his all into making it one to remember. Wilson just gets life. He has fun no matter what happens and he’s one who’s seen so many injuries over the years. We’re lucky that he still wants to race and he knows he can be competitive. DeanO went 11-9-8-10-7-6-5 in the last seven rounds of SX last season and he’s going to have the same level in 2024, if not better.
Max Anstie opened some eyes in the 250SX East Region last season and finished with four podiums including a win on his way to third in the series. He had a successful offseason and he’s got to have his sights on a title run. Anstie is a veteran and he’s going to use those skills to his advantage in a very young class, save for Jeremy Martin. With the Lawrence brothers out of the class, these 250 regions are wide open and a slew of riders think that they can get their first title. Anstie is in that boat and he’s going to raise his game to a new level to try and get the job done.
2024 Rider Projections:
Dean Wilson – DeanO got his mojo back this offseason and he’s riding at a level we haven’t seen from him in quite some time. This is probably his last season racing American SX and he’s going to be duking it out in the 5-10 range all season. He may even podium at Indy!
Max Anstie – Anstie is a legit title contender in the 250SX East Region. He will be a regular on the podium and will win a main event or two.
Will Campbell – Not much is known about Will Campbell, but his program at MTF is legit and he will be in shape and on a good bike. He should be a standout rider in SX Futures.
