Finally, Pro Motocross is back. Round 9 of the 2024 Pro Motocross Championship returns this weekend at Unadilla and while the championship races have been taken control of by Chase Sexton and Haiden Deegan, we get some big names back this weekend with Eli Tomac expected to return next weekend at Budds Creek.
Here is a quick refresher on who is returning this weekend:
Ken Roczen
Last Race: Nashville Supercross
SMX Rank: 12th
In a surprise move, Kenny said he will race a 250 at the final round at Ironman, but this weekend he’s back in the 450 Class. Kenny has been sidelined for a while, but he’s shown in the past he can jump into a series and contend right away.
Kenny is currently 12th in the SuperMotocross Playoff standings and trails and trails Tomac by 59, who is expected back next week. So, not much room for Roczen to move up.
Cooper Webb
Last Race: Salt Lake City Supercross
SMX Rank: 10th
Webb kicked off the summer of thumb injuries, but will return this weekend. The former 250MX champ trails Justin Barcia, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, by 29 in the SMX points race, so he could move up to ninth by the end of the summer.
Coty Schock
Last Race: High Point National
SMX Rank: 15th
Somehow Schock is already back from a broken wrist and while he’s probably safe to auto-qualify for the SMX Playoffs, it won’t hurt to get a few more points heading into the second year of the post-season races. He is only 11 back of the sidelined RJ Hampshire, so he could move up to 14th as soon as this weekend.
