We are down five rounds! The Monster Energy Supercross season continues in Detroit on Saturday and in this edition of Most Likely, we examine some key talking points. Like, is Ken Roczen out of the title chase? Is Eli Tomac the baddest dude on the planet? And will Chizz continue to Chizz in 2038?

Read on…

Ken Roczen is 18 points down to Chase Sexton. Is he most likely still in this title chase?

Slaw: Have you seen this year? This could be one of those seasons that is more about survival than speed. Is he in a worse place that he was a week ago? He certainly is, but this has been such a weird year I’m not counting anyone out of this title chase.

Wes: If anything, this deficit is only fuel to the fire. 18 points does seem insurmountable until you think about having 12 rounds left in the championship. Given the attrition rate so far in 2025, anything is possible. However, I think with Chase Sexton and Cooper Webb now your most viable championship rivals, you can’t have anymore misses. Currently, though, it’s still doable.

Is Eli Tomac most likely the most savage person you have ever seen?

Slaw: I just copied a bunch of Chuck Norris jokes and replaced Chuck with Eli because he might be the baddest man on the planet at the moment.

Eli Tomac doesn’t wear a watch. He simply decides what time it is.

You know how they say if you die in your dream then you will die in real life? In reality, if you dream of death then Eli Tomac will find you and kill you.

When Eli Tomac does a push up, he isn’t lifting himself up, he’s pushing the Earth down.

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Eli Tomac.

Wes: Ryno’s folklore, urban legends, and fight with Michael Lapaglia at Mammoth hold him atop the Savage Podium. Did Eli pass him? I don’t think quite yet, but he’s closing the gap. Once Eli retires and decides to race a Major Event Pro Class and starts a fight with Jaydin Smart, we’ll give him the nod.

Are RJ Hampshire and Levi Kitchen most likely still in contention for the 250SX East Region title?

Slaw: Out of it? No. A long road to travel in a deep field? 100%. In a short series, staring at the hole these pre-season title favorites have dug, isn’t a pretty sight.

After one round RJ is 21 points back and Levi is 12 points back. Not great. I never want to say never, but man, 21 points may be too much to overcome. Did I just talk myself into RJ being OUT of the title chase? Shit, maybe I did. Honestly, who knows. 2025 has been a long strange journey and we are only five rounds in.

Wes: It wouldn’t surprise me a single bit to see the results completely inverse this weekend in Detroit, at which point everyone would be in title contention again. I don’t think ANYONE is out of it as of yet. Let’s get through a few more rounds before we start making any assumptions. Anstie better keep an eye out for pit boards, though

Is Malcolm Stewart most likely to get another win this year?

Slaw: With the 450SX Class looking more and more like a MASH unit every day, why not? We’ve seen it time and time again: a rider finally breaks through for their first win and that gives them the confidence and belief that they can do it again.

Or… Malcolm will join a list that includes Blake Baggett, Josh Grant, John Dowd, Justin Brayton, Josh Hill, Zach Osborne, Cole Seely and more to only have 1 career 450 win.

With that said, I think Mookie gets one more this year.

Wes: I was NEXT IN LINE to ask Mookie a question in the press conference last weekend, but the mic never made it to my hands. Probably for good reason, but I was going to inquire something along these lines. The first win is ALWAYS the hardest. It usually seems that once a racer gets a victory under their belt, the mindset changes and they know they belong amongst a very elite group of colleagues. I undoubtedly think Malcolm Stewart gets another win this year.

Is Chizz most likely to be Chizzing in the year 2038?

Slaw: The year is 2050, we are riding flying motorcycles in the Mars Supercross Championship and Chizz is battling Haiden Deegan Jr. for the win. Mark my words.

Wes: Unless the medical field develops a Chizectomy, seeing Chiz all over stadiums for the next decade seriously wouldn’t surprise me. If you’ve been chizzing for two decades, why stop now? I reckon even if he retires for a few months, he’ll have so much pent up Chiz he won’t be able to contain himself. Then he’ll show up to A1 again, and, you guessed it, Chiz right there in the main event.
