Like many at the 250SX East Region opener in Tampa on Saturday, Nick Romano had a tough day.
In his first start with the Phoenix Racing Honda team, Romano crashed in the whoops in the first 250 qualifying session and did not return.
On Instagram, Romano said that he dabbed his knee and made the decision to pull out for the rest of the day. He is hopeful he can race the second round of the East Region Saturday in Detroit.
“💩 luck Saturday in Tampa, had a crash in the whoops in Q1 and dabbed my knee pretty good. Smart move was to pull out of the rest of the day and get things evaluated. Waiting on some answers here soon and we’ll go from there! My plan is to race this weekend, but I’m taking it 1 day at a time. I’m bummed, pissed, and all of the above but that’s how the sport goes sometimes 🤷🏼♂️”
Romano also was not a big fan of the track:
“Also, It absolutely sucked to see my guy @_piercebrown crash in the whoops and get hurt like that. As well as countless other riders going down, hopefully the SMX crew will do a better job of building and maintaining the tracks a bit better.”
We will update Romano’s status for Detroit as we know more.
