Nick Romano Update: “I got results back after Tampa and I did unfortunately blow out my knee”

Injuries has been a theme throughout the beginning of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. From factory riders to privateers, it has been a year of the walking wounded. It sucks. These guys are modern day warriors and ride through things that would have us normal humans on the couch for 4 to 6 months.

One guy riding through it all: Nick Romano. After missing all of 2023 with a torn ACL and meniscus, Romano returned in 2024 and had a decent season, finishing 13th in his first full year in Monster Energy AMA Supercross and 16th in Pro Motocross.

He moved to Phoenix Racing Honda this off-season, but his season never really got started. At the opening round of the 250SX East Region in Tampa, Romano said that he dabbed his knee in the whoops in qualifying and made the decision to pull out for the rest of the day.

While he was able to compete in Detroit, he didn’t make the main event. After the race, he gave an update saying he got results last week and his knee is “blown out.”

“Not much to say on Detroits performance although I gave it my absolute all. Update is I got results back after Tampa, & I did unfortunately blow out my knee. Gave it all the rest I could this week leading up to Detroit, I was no weight bearing until Friday lol. It was a very last minute decision to attempt to ride and see if I could even race, should I of been out there? Probably not, but racers race and given any opportunity to go out there and race my dirtbike I’ll be there.”

Despite all this, Romano said he going to attempt Daytona when the East Region resumes March 1.

“It’s not the way we want to start a season, or not the spot I want to currently be in. Bums me the hell out after this off season went amazing and here we are again hurt trying to just manage, but I’m proud of the teams and I effort and always will be. Week off to rest this thing up and we try again in Daytona To my small group of people behind me thank you for believing in me.”
