Welcome to the 2023 Slaw/Troy Dog/Ginger Dog Combined 250/450 Top Ten Power Rankings! Slaw, Ginger, and Troy each have created their own list of who they believe carry the most power in the sport. They each have created their own categories and have weighted these people accordingly, whether its speed, following, skills, you name it. Or it could just be random. Basically, whatever is happening that week is fair game.
Each week these rankings will be updated so that you guys can argue about how wrong they are in the comment section! Feel free to tell us if we’re right/wrong/or completely dumb.
Slaw Dog
-A true classic. #neverforget
-Rain delays bring out the best in the moto community. Pure gold.
-People were big mad on the Internet last week because they didn’t get to see the full bike. I loved it. No press is bad press and peps were talking all week about the bike which we all will eventually see at some point.
-If you know you know.
-If you know you know.
-If you know you know.
-One of the most iconic sections in motocross. Never change it, please.
-It’s so back and Kevin Kelly and Weege are crushing it.
-Go listen to his PulpMX interview. Dude is a straight beast.
Ginger Dog
-Unadilla: Year 2000 and something. It was my first outdoor national with T and his family. We had just met and started dating the month before. Driving 14+ hours to New York from Cincinnati with a dude I barely knew sounded like an awesome idea. Troy was doing some work for Vurb so I ended up roaming the place totally alone (this is a common theme y’all). I wasn’t even legally able to drink but still managed to pass out on a hill from pure exhaustion. I got absolutely FRIED. I woke up like whhatt. The scattered memories I have include sleeping in some hotel with the Bendgen family and Ryne Swanberg (he drove with us the entire way which is still hilarious to me). We were all a total mess. I fell asleep with sun poisoning slowly destroying my face, half existing in a fever dream, watching Billy Madison. I still swear to this day the penguin was really there…it had nothing to do with the heat.
-Troy Boy turned 33 on the 3rd so go tell him happy belated birthday. He’s a cool dude and brings a lot of fun energy to moto. His takes are always positive and he never has a bad thing to say about anyone. I admire that about him because I’m his total opposite. At the end of the day, moto is just fun. Troy remembers that part after all these years which is super impressive from a media standpoint. He’s not a bot…..yet.
-LLMX hot take: where dads go to watch their dreams die twice. Yeah, I said it. But really, I asked my 4.5 year old what he wants to be when he grows up and he said a caterpillar. If he wants to ride, cool beans. I just have so many questions. Are the little dudes out there to fulfill their dream or their dads? I bet the 4-6 year old biggy boys just want to vibe out and watch Blaze…maybe shred a bit on their Strider and slurp a Capri Sun.
-He’s back!
-Levi was just on the Squad Pod so go listen to it if you haven’t. Levi is a good dude and I am hoping to meet him in person at Ironman.
-I love Jo and I love the new Fox collab gear.
-He signed with Beta for 24/25. Every time I see his name I turn into Afroman.
-BAMBAM has cool looking merch worth buying. Go to zumiez. I got the 51 shirt that has the alien with the mullet.
-My buddy Wes just added another week of Loretta Lynn’s to his resume and has been showing you guys again why they call him the Goat. He’s been crushing it with the revamped Radio Fox show as well as daily content. I’m also digging his newly dyed hair.
-There was a JLaw sighting at the Ranch!!! I came in at the tail end of JLaw’s motocross career when he was just coming out of jail. So, I never got to witness much of what went down with him, but I always heard stories about his antics and that made me a big fan. In a world full of boring people it’s fun to add some hijinks in the mix every now and then.
Troy Dog
-The Chef was on the Squad Pod this week, which is my favorite pod in the game, because it’s mine. We went in depth about his breakout week at Loretta Lynn’s in 2020 and talked about how he was supposed to ride for GEICO Honda. I’ve also been working on the marketing side of things for Levi and making sure that he has a trademark move for his cheffing abilities. Please listen, you don’t want to miss this.
-Kevin Kelly is the pioneer of motocross podcasting. He loaded up his conestoga wagon and created DMXS Radio alongside David Izer more than 20 years ago. He’s now going stronger than ever with the Winner’s Take Y’all pod, as well as his work on the Radio Fox, and live announcing gigs at LL and all over the country. I’ve looked up to Kevin for more than 15 years now and not because he’s taller than me. He’s always made me laugh and makes announcing fun and entertaining. There is never a dull moment with him around and anything he’s involved in I’m listening to.
– Vizer!!! MVP Dog! Vizer always delivers straight heat whether it’s photography or video. He always gets me anything that I ask for and never really asks for anything in return and I’m thankful for all the help that he’s given me over the years. He’s currently down at the Ranch getting content from every moto. What a gem!
– Fro is cool. Back in the ’90s I was an Emig guy. I loved Jeremy McGrath back in those days and still do, but I got tired of the dominance. Emig could beat MC and in 1996-97 it was Fro time. Emig is back at the Ranch and I’m going to try and get him on my pod soon to discuss some burning questions that I’ve always wanted to know about his career.
– Mike Brown still bangs. Just like Joey Votto.
– We all need to thank the coal miner’s daughter for allowing the motocross community to use her Ranch every summer since 1982. We miss you Loretta.
-Radio Fox is back and it is hosted by Jason Weigandt and Kevin Kelly! I’ve watched every episode and have loved all the nostalgia! Good job boys for bringing back such an iconic show and putting the Vurbmoto twist on it. With history from Davey Coombs and Pete Fox all of these shows have been beautiful.
-Dax Bennick is the next big thing.
-The skunk really should be number one this week. Have you seen the video? I’ll give you the clif notes. Basically a skunk was out on track walk at Loretta’s when the rain storms came yesterday and he had to make a run for it. He ran right into the staging area where hundreds of riders were stuck and it was pandemonium, I loved it. Check out my story on Instagram for the video brought to you by deandyess733 and ackeller213.
-My buddy ARay was on the Squad Pod this week too and we went down memory lane and talked about our good times together. He started his new sales job at O’Neal this week and I wish him the best in his next venture.
