We’re back to talking dirbikes for Power Rankings! With round 2 of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in San Diego this Saturday, we are back to our traditional rankings.

If you are new here, keep in mind, unlike other Power Rankings, we combine 250 and 450. Also, this isn’t always the winners or podium guys or whatever. We rank according to whomever we felt surprised that week or had a lit kit or whatever we feel like our rankings are that week.

Enjoy!

– I’ve wrote about JuJu a lot already this week, so go read this and this. AMA Media Member of the Year type shit. This was the most unanticipated ride from Anaheim 1 for me and why he tops my list.

– I also already wrote about Hill, as well, but this was the second most unanticipated rider of Anaheim 1 and why he ranks second for me.

– Guess what? If you guessed that I already wrote about Davies, you win… $5 from Troy. Thanks for playing.

– Wrote about Rozen too!

– Wanna feel old? It has been seven (!!!!) years since Anderson won his lone 450SX title. Wild, man. Can he return to that form? That might be tough, but Supercross is better when JA is in the mix.

– Kind of speaks for itself, but he quieted a lot of skeptics, myself included, with that ride. Massive to get that out of the way at the opener instead of hearing the whispers about the bike, etc. for another week.

– Like Sexton this was MASSIVE for the Jo Show. Leading up to A1, all he heard was can he actually put in good results when it matters? He did that and more last Saturday. Title contender.

– Similar to Cooper Webb, Jordon got that dawg in him. He just digs deep each and every week, heart on his throttle.

– Will the Millsaps touch be the difference in year two?

– Not what he wanted, but like he said after the race, he ain’t sitting 16th.

I’m back, and damn, does it feel good. Currently en route to San Diego myself, solely to make sure my Guts Power Rankings are undeniably the most credible of our crew. After all, how can you even think your rankings are accurate if you don’t go to the races? Am I right, or am I right? Let’s get on with it.

1. Sexton – How could you not put this guy in the top spot?! Came out swinging, and dude hit a grand slam. What a statement to start the season. I’m betting he just keeps riding the wave.

2. Kenny – He was silent and underrated coming into the season. At one point, I was genuinely wondering if he was even going to be racing this year (not really). But I knew that meant nothing but business. Ken came out, threw the papers down on the conference table, and people started signing on the bottom line. He’s typically strong at the start, so here’s to him keeping the momentum going for 17 rounds. For now, though, he’s a podium contender in my rankings.

3. Shimoda – Getting a win off the rip and showing he belongs on the top step of the 250 class. He knows it now, and so does the rest of the class. We’ll have to see where he lands in the rankings next week, but for now, I’ve got to give the guy the final podium spot.

4. XRP – I’m not a huge crypto guy, but I’m glad I’m holding a bag this week. Hopefully I’m not jinxing it here.

5. I’m a sucker for whips – They could change SX to half-track style points and half-track racing, and I’d be totally here for it. Be sure to check out the Best Whips of A1, brought to you by Octopi.

6. JuJu’s swagger – When you roll into A1 with JuJu’s swagger, you know you’ve got the confidence to back it up. And I’d say he did just that. I can appreciate the hell out of both those things. Nothing like playing some mind games to start the season right, and nothing sends a message better than killing a cow and then wearing it as a jacket. Let’s just hope he put the rest in the freezer.

7. Beast Mode – Enough said. Can’t wait to see what happens if Tomac gets the start AND stays off the ground. Which will happen this weekend.

8. Deegs – The pressure’s off. He undoubtedly has the speed and ability. If he’s not coming from last place, we could see a much more heated battle at the front of the pack and a completely different result.

9. Ju – Hill is the underdog movie everyone will watch time and time again. He’s badass.

10. Captain of Team Fried, Jason Anderson – Came out HOT! If he can repeat this with Tomac in the mix, he’s got some serious staying power for 2025. Would love to see this guy get a few wins this year!
