Features and Functionality

Features and Functionality
Prospect by Vurbmoto is a centralized hub built to centralize everything you need in one seamless platform. Whether you’re looking for live race timing, past results, upcoming events, ranking, analytics, tracks to shred, or a way to connect with other riders, Prospect connects all this and more under a single platform.

Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a rising amateur, or a seasoned pro, Prospect is built for you.

Key Features: The below features and functionality will continue to grow. Please check back as we continue to upgrade your experience.

Claiming a Profile: Prospect automatically creates thousands of rider profiles using race result data. To claim a profile, simply search for the rider’s name, enter the verification details, and submit the request.

Prospect allows multiple users (e.g., parents or team members) to claim and manage the same rider profile. Additionally, users can claim and oversee multiple rider profiles from a single account.

Live Timing – Stay up to speed with geo-targeted live timing from events nationwide. Dive deeper with enhanced UI features that let you analyze individual lap times and compare yourself to other riders.

Only events that offer live timing will be available in the app. However, all events which we receive final results from will appear in Past Results.

Past Results – Track your progress with a comprehensive historical database. Your results are automatically applied to your Prospect rider profile, updating your stats and ranking in real time.

Upcoming Events – Never miss a race. Tracks and promoters can showcase their upcoming events, while riders can easily discover races happening near them and across the country.

This feature is intended to connect more promoters with more riders.

Ranking System – Our proprietary algorithm ranks riders based on event data, turning motocross into a gamified experience driven by real performance metrics. For detailed information on how Ranking works, visit the Ranking FAQ page.

Rider Profile – Prospect tracks riders stats from around the country and gives users the ability to claim their rider profile or for parents to claim profiles for their children after signing up. Also note that parents can claim multiple rider profiles in order to track all of their riders.

Your Rider Profile will showcase your racing journey. Earn rankings, track stats, display the tracks you’ve conquered, and automatically show the states you’ve competed in. Your Rider Profile will also automatically showcase Prestigious Wins and track your scoring history.

Track Map – Explore motocross tracks nationwide with detailed profiles, photos, videos, and social media links. Follow tracks or mark them as “shredded” to let others know where you’ve ridden.

You can also upload your own images and video links from tracks you’ve shredded for a chance to be featured in the app.

Follow Riders: Following a rider will highlight that rider on your homescreen and show their most recent race results. It will also allow you to easily access the profile of riders you follow. A future build will allow users to communicate with riders they follow, as well as other features and functionality.

Riders Near Me – Connect with local riders through a location-based system that helps you discover, follow, and engage with fellow motocross enthusiasts.

Ranking

Ranking Updates: Points are calculated daily.

Ranking Classifications

  1. National Points:
    • The National Points race runs annually from January through December.
    • The National Points chase resets every year.
    • Riders must create a profile and have an AMA number to participate.
    • Additional details regarding point calculations are outlined below.
  2. Power Ranking:
    • Power Ranking reflects a rider’s lifetime achievement by summing all points earned throughout their racing career.
    • Power Ranking points are calculated separately in order to show the All Time scores of riders throughout history.

The Algorithm
Yes, we developed a custom algorithm to calculate rankings.

How Points Are Earned:
The system evaluates the following metrics:

  1. Event Size
  2. Event Multiplier
  3. Class Multiplier
  • Event Size
  • Small Events: Fewer than 22 riders in a class.
  • Large Events: 22 or more riders in a class.

  • Event Multiplier
Not all races are created equal. Events are weighted as follows:

Event Type

Multiplier

Local Race

1x

AMA State Championship Series

3x

AMA Area Qualifier

5x

AMA Featured Series

6x

AMA State Championship

20x

AMA Regional Qualifier

  • Class Multiplier
The system adjusts for class size using the table below. This allows events outside of those on the Event Multiplier list the ability to become prioritized. For example, a local race that receives 1x points can receive more points based on how large each class size is, rewarding the promoter and the riders for hosting/racing larger events.

Example Scenario:

  1. Rider A vs. Rider B:
    • Rider A competes in the Southwest AMA Area Qualifier with 20 riders in their class.
    • Rider B competes in the Southeast AMA Area Qualifier with 40 riders in their class.

Using the weighted system:

  • Rider A earns 149.5 points:
    • 26 (Large Event Scale) × 5 (AMA AQ Weight) × 1.15 (Class Multiplier).
  • Rider B earns 175.5 points:
    • 26 (Large Event Scale) × 5 (AMA AQ Weight) × 1.35 (Class Multiplier).

Rider Analytics

What are racing metrics?
Racing metrics in Prospect provide a snapshot of a rider’s accomplishments based on available race results. While we continuously expand our database, these metrics are not a complete record of a rider’s career but rather a reflection of the results we have access to.

Where does Prospect pull results from?
Prospect gathers race results from various timing and scoring platforms, with Trackside being the most commonly used. As we grow, we’ll continue adding more race data, ensuring results are automatically applied to rider profiles whenever possible.

How do live results impact analytics?
Lap data allows us to generate additional performance metrics for gamification, such as:

    • Laps Led
    • Career Laps Raced
    • Percentage of Laps Led
  • Average Position on First Lap

However, these metrics can only be calculated for events where lap time data is available. If a rider has race wins but no recorded “Laps Led,” it means our system only has access to final race results—not detailed lap data.

What is the goal of Prospect’s analytics?
Our goal is to provide analytics to racers and race fans. We encourage more tracks to not only use transponders for timing and scoring, but to also expose that information when uploading their results, ultimately providing richer analytics for riders and fans. We appreciate your support as we continue to enhance the platform!
