We are saddened to report the passing of Jeremy Shuttleworth, who passed away on August 12, 2021, due to injuries sustained at the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn Ranch.
Shuttleworth sustained a crash during the first moto of the 40+ class and sustained a severe spinal cord injury and was immediately transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, via helicopter Medical Transport, according to Road 2 Recovery.
According to Road 2 Recovery, doctors confirmed that he sustained multiple fractures to his C1 and C2 vertebras, collapsed lungs, and substantial swelling around his brain.
After a ten-day battle, Shuttleworth succumbed to the injuries.
During his time as a pro, the Florida native made one main event—the Daytona Supercross in 1999—finishing 25th.
