Roundtable: Anderson/Lawrence Bros, bLU cRU Invitational, and Dean-O

Welcome to the Vurbmoto Roundtable! It’s a feature we had in the early days and now it’s such a legend that it makes a return. Our panel of experts, Bird and T-Dog, give their best opinion on hot topics in the sport. We also let Slaw give his opinion, but no one cares what he has to say. Let’s get to it!

Who has the upper hand in the Jason Anderson, Lawrence brother feud?

Bird Dog – So we’re fueling the fire? Ok, I’ll bite. My question is, what does “upper hand” mean? Are we talking about a street fight? Twitter war? SX slam fest? In a fight, it’s two vs one, so I’d have to give the upper hand to the Lawrence bros. While Anderson is from New Mex, I remember Hunter talking about how he’d fight an alligator if they took his dog, which is crazy to me. That gator can have my dog.

As for a lame war on social media or on the track, I wouldn’t tango with Anderson. He’s not putting on a show here. I honestly think he doesn’t give a damn. He was slamming dudes in SX before the Lawrence brothers got off mini bikes. Just ask Cole Seely. I think they’d be better off letting this feud die before it goes too far.

Troy Dog – With Supercross beef, we never truly have any winners. These guys scream at one another with their helmets on then zoom away, so nothing really happens, unless your name is Weston Peick. Heck, even Seth Hammaker’s mom stepped up to Haiden Deegan to get him out of the Pro Circuit pits. Anyway, if I have to choose I’ll go with Anderson. He truly is an artist when it comes to making aggressive moves on the track. He knows what he’s doing and he’s been in this game a long time. Anderson also doesn’t care about any of this. I wonder how far this beef will actually go. At this point there has to be a boiling point.

Slaw Dog – My initial thought was El Hombre. I wouldn’t want to have him on my bad side. Not worth the risk. But throw all that out the window when it comes to brothers. I have a brother and I would take myself and him and we could beat the shit out of prime Mike Tyson. No questions asked. Blood runs deep, especially with the Lawrence bros. So, I’ll go with them.

The bLU cRU Invitational kicks off this weekend at Glen Helen. What is the coolest part of this new series that you’re looking forward to the most?

Bird Dog – I’m stoked for the event! The coolest thing, outside of having the chance to race in front of thousands of MXoN fans in England, is Yamaha’s support for amateur moto. Other OEMs should take note, because what Yamaha is doing for their riders is unparalleled. They’re not only committing a huge amount of time, effort and resources for the kick off event at Glen Helen, but they’re doing it two more times at Washougal and High Point. And three winners get the literal chance of a lifetime. What is there not to love about this!

Troy Dog – A race weekend with all my bLU cRU doggies? Sign me up! You know, one of the coolest parts about this event is the Friday training sessions with Doug Dubach, Damon Bradshaw, and Ryan Villopoto. I’d go there and just ask them about cool stuff and get incredible dirt bike advice on how to shred faster. I can’t believe this is even available. I can ask RV about St. Louis 2008 and then he can yell at me for my improper cornering techniques. It’s a win-win.

Slaw Dog – If you ride a Yamaha and aren’t at this event, you don’t like moto. People always complain that there is not enough races, yet at the same time they don’t attend the ones that are being offered. Get out to Glen Helen this weekend and support those who support the sport and Vurb.

How long do we have before Dean Wilson finds a ride and commits for the 2025 Supercross season?

Bird Dog – He’s done bro! It makes me sad because he’s one of the real dudes in this sport. Take a poll and I bet 100% of voters would agree. He’s been ingrained in this industry since we started Vurb, and I can’t speak highly enough of him and his entire family. I hope he goes to work with his old pal Bobby Hewitt at Triumph. Maybe he can be a test rider or something. I just hope he stays in the game and doesn’t disappear.

Troy Dog – Oh, it’s going to happen. I talked to Dean-O before this season and he’s like yeah this is it. He said that he’d race some Australian stuff, but this was his last Supercross season. Then I talked to him before his return in Nashville and he said he wanted to race some races in 2025, but he wasn’t sure if he would even have a spot on a team. I was like, you’re Dean Wilson, you’re going to find a spot if you want one. So, Dean still wants to race, so I’m going to count him in for 2025.

Slaw Dog – January 2025. We all know the pre-season injury bug can strike at any time and DeanO is the perfect fill-in guy. He brings marketability and a shit ton of fans. He went 11-11-11-10 when he came back from injury to end the season, so it’s not like he’s joined the Washed Up Dirtbikers Association…. yet! A reunion with Mitch Payton would make my 2025.
